| Having just watched the game again, my opinion of Brent Webb's performance is unchanged from my initial opinion last night. He was very good, very sharp and reaffirmed the fact that he is still the best fullback at the club.
Opinions on a players level of performance should be based on their level of performance and not influenced by what is read on this forum.

| I too thought Webb was excellent, despite a couple of sloppy passes.
However, I'd have given McGuire MOM. He was very dangerous. After two big games against Widnes and Cas I'll be watching McGuire closely next week against better opposition.
In the forwards Ablett was immense and Pitts was very industrious. On work rate alone Pitts should have moved ahead of Clarkson in the packing order. On first glance I think Kirke made about 3 carries.

| Just caught the end of the 5 live extra commentary last night. Iestyn Harris, a man who knows more than I do about full back play, rated Webb's performance highly.
Then again, Stevo, who presumably knows more than I do about playing centre, always seemed to rate Joel Tomkins.

| Webb was good not MOM match good but good. MOM should have gone to McGuire who I thought caused cas a lot of problems when the game was in the balance. Ablett was great too.

| Webb was good but not MOTM. McGuire was threatening, second row industrious and we looked better with Peacock on (as usual). A special mention for Jay Pitts - on paper the weak link in the team but had a strong game, his best so far. Hopefully the sign of a promising future (along the lines of JJB and Ablett in previous years). Based only on yesterday's game Pitts would be ahead of Clarkson who, sadly, seems to have gone off the boil a little.

| I was mildly surprised when they announced Webb as mom. McGuire would have been my choice and I thought they'd pick Hall as they don't often overlook hat-tricks. I did think Webb played well though. He's always likely to throw the odd bad pass, but he adds so much more in attack than most fullbacks. His work-rate last night was fantastic and his defensive game was excellent.
Well done Jay Pitts. You can't ask for much more in terms of effort.
Disappointed with Zak, but you have to bear in mind just how inexperienced he is. I'm still pretty sure he's going to be a great player, but the others are a fair way ahead of him at the moment.

| Webb looks fitter, faster and with a better appetite for attacking with pace than for a long while and overall he had his best game for some time. Having said that his passing is still too sloppy. I don't blame Hardaker as he appeared to be accelerating forward expecting Webb to pass forward as usual. So perhaps Webb got MOM as for once he passed behind his man!
My vote for MOM would have gone to Delaney just ahead of McGuire who is looking sharp. Good work from Pitts and Ablett

| Pitts & Delaney were awesome great carries and some decent tackles. McGuire looked dangerous with ball in hand, almost vintage McGuire. Didnt think Kirke really offered that much last night. But overall think MOM should of gone to Pitts. Webb was average at best, watching the interview after the game think even he was suprised.
Massive test next week.

| For me, webby had a great game but his passing is p155 poor sometimes. One that did stand out was Darrell Griffin, his defence when he was on was excellent, especially near own line. Mags also coming back to top form which is great to see.

| Always makes me smile when comment is made on this forum about sloppy passes. The Forward Pass has long been a recognised Leeds trademark, and our flat passes are usually pushing it as well. When it goes well, it's great to watch, when not, it's frustrating to have yet another try chalked off. On balance, I'd say our brand of exciting RL has proven itself over the last few seasons, so any chelping from the terraces that focuses on a particular individual in this regard is not really warranted.
Friday night was as we would expect, with Cas raising their game and showing real heart in an enjoyable game of RL. For me, either McGuire or Ablett should have been MOM, but Webbs overall contribution to the game was top notch.
I'm liking what I've seen so far this season, especially when you consider what we were watching at this stage last year....

| All the top teams push the flat (occasionally forward pass).
The prime culprits are;
For Wigan, O'Loughlin
For Saints, Roby especially from Dummy Half
For the Wolves, Monaghan (as Roby), Briers & on last night's showing Hodgson.
For us, Webb.
Refs (& touch jusdges) know this & so are, or at least should be, looking for this.

| It is understandable when a flat pass drifts forwards but the frustration in Webb's case is that so many of his passes are yards in front of the receiver so this is not an attempted flat pass just a badly executed normal pass. His usual incredulous reaction to his many forward passes would suggest the solution is not to be found on the training field but in a visit to Specsavers!

I think you're spot on with last two paragraphs, but not sure I'd agree with the first. While you're right about the flat pass, many of Webb's have been worse than marginal and some are shockers. Whether this is because many of his passes are ambitious and look brilliant if they do come off, or whether there is another reason is debatable.
My opinion, fwiw, is that this problem dates from his return from back injury. It's only conjecture but I think Webb's ability to pass accurately is hampered by difficulty in twisting his back. I'm not sure for example that he could have come near to making the pass that McGuire made to put BJB in for the first try against Widnes.

| The WCC has focussed Leeds' early season form which was a missing element from last year. It will be interesting to see where the lull will come if at all.

BMD looks a different man as well. So much more relaxed compared to last season. That's got to come across to the troops.

Have to agree.....even if the team does suffer a slump I have more faith they will soon be lifted from it.
One thing for sure...any season ticket holders must be pleased they seem to be getting much more for their money at the moment this season to date.
It's all very well stating the team raises its game at the 'business end' of the season, but that hasn't exactly been conducive to buying a season ticket.

No conincidence, he was 5h1te. But so too was Clarkson on Friday, so don't know what to say with that one.
