| Was he 'our Cantona' in that his arrival mid-2004 gave Leeds the impetus to win that long overdue title - and then kick on ? Rather like Eric propelled Man Utd to their glorious new era....

| IIRC his first game was against Salford at home.. wasn't going to go until it was annouced he was making his debut. Ali's been an absoloute legend a game breaker and one of if not THE best overseas players we've ever had.
I agree with other posters on here though, we need to replace him and we've not done so yet.

| Big shame to see him go. Really have a soft spot for Ali, but also agree about the timing being about right. I hope he gets a spot in the 17 for Wembley as he is, as previously mentioned, a better selection than a few other names. Still capable of flashes of genius and will push through the gain line more often than not.

| As a geriatric supporter I would suggest that along with Arthur Clues, Ali has been our best overseas signing. However, who will replace him?
Hauraki may think he is a ball playing game breaker but he is nowhere near at the moment, possibly in a couple of years time.
How Kirke and Hauraki are selected before Ali is beyond my understanding. We needed his skill at Doncaster, and it showed, and I sincerely hope he plays at Wembley.
What is the betting he comes back next year to prove Brian Mc and Gary H wrong to let him go
Thanks for all the memories Ali, good luck for the future

| Quote ="Andy Gilder"Given that I seem to remember a "leaving party" being put together for Matt Adamson and Dave Furner (two players who arguably contributed less for a shorter period to the success of the club), is there merit in putting together something similar for Ali? A chance for the fans to show their appreciation and wish the big fella well?
P.S. That's not me volunteering to organise it by the way...'"

| Can't dispute most of what has been said here, Ali has been the best of the modern imports but not at his best over the past couple of years.
As much as I like Kirke I would have to take a fit Ali as second row cum prop and despite the injuries and declining fitness he can still produce the magic and his presence on the pitch not only lifts the crowd but also seems to lift the team.
As somebody else has said, we weren't going to go to that match until we found out it was his debut - glad we did.
Best memory has to be the 5 tries at Wakefield after coming on as sub - something the superleague records page didn't show for ages (think they got fed-up of me pestering them).
Thanks Ali & good luck wherever you end up.

| Ali has been a fantastic servant to our club since his debut back in 2004
When Ali was fully fit, he was almost impossible to defend against,I will always remember Ali for playing the game how it should be played, in that he could always do the "off the cuff" style of footie rather than being just another stereotypical overseas back rower that can do the stats proud.
Ali also always played the game with a smile on his face,
Respect

| If we're sharing favourite memories I have two.
His try in the 2007 GF, and the determined nature of the run, swung the momentum firmly our way.
It was a mundane game but he gave Calderwood a pass for a try in the right corner of the North Stand/Western Terrace against Widnes in 2005. I've never seen a RL player make a pass like that.

That was in 2004.
Mcguire scored 5 tries in that game.
The pass was also forward.

| Some great memories Ali has given us these last 7 years. His partnership down the left with Senior was brilliant for a few years and they created loads of tries for both the winger and inside support. It must have been a nightmare for the opposition to try and stop their offloads.
Sad to see him leave and it could be quite a while before we have another player like Ali.
All the best to him and his family.
