Hall would probably be OK in the NRL - certainly better than Tansey - but he wouldn't be a star winger by any means. He would become a better player though.

I don't know how you can say that. There has been many a poor winger playing in the NRL and classed a star, even representing Australia.

Personally though if he went to Aus, I think they would push him into the pack.

Maybe I meant sarcasm not irony. It was sarcastic that the best winger in SL made one error of judgement after a spectacular break. You know very well how I rate Hall, from our numerous conversations about him.

In many regards Monaghan [umay[/ube better than Hall or Youngquest [umay be better than Roberts[/u that was not what my post was about.

for me the best BRITISH wingers are Briscoe and Hall although i do rate Peter Fox. But the best winger in super league is still Pat Richards. Its hard to compare stats as Pat has only just returned from injury but is already showing very good form, not to mention his record breaking season last year. Its hard to look past him although everyone is entitled to their opinion !!!

In fairness it's difficult to read between the lines based on two words.

Yeah, just had a proper look. Didnt see that Briscoe touches the ball a lot less that Ryan. M/C are roughly the same. Ryan very rarely has a sub 100m game though and does a lot of work coming out of his own half. Briscoes dh scoots may be a reason why his m/c are up there with ryan.

The fact that people rate Richards as better than any British winger sums it up. He was never a 'star' in the NRL which he left years ago. I'm also struggling to come up with a list of Australian international wingers that weren't better than Hall - David Williams recently (possibly), but after that you may have to go back a while. Hall's a good solid winger but he wouldn't be a star in the NRL.

Just off the top of my head I would put Hall as a better winger than, Williams, O'Davis, Tahu, Nagas, Rooney, and Sing. And they are only ones that have played for Australia, not mentioning all the ones who have played highly in the NRL.

Richards is only rated highly because of his scoring, and the fact he is a world class goal kicker. Much the same as when Daryl Halligan was playing, anyone would have wanted him in their side, but he was a pretty average player. Put Richards in a Crusaders, or Salford side, and not many would be rating him, but because of the number of chances at try's and kicks he gets at Wigan it is a different story.

Agree 100%. I think Hall would have to be a truly outstanding winger for an Aussie club to consider him. He's not - just good. Of course I hope he stays with us, though.

Hall is an outstanding winger IMO. The best in the game, IMO.

I reached this opinion by watching wingers play rugby, without reading any statistics.

It must take some time attending all those games, and money.
