Can't see two existing SL clubs being given the boot, so I would suggest Halifax are going into the pot for the other 13 places as rank outsiders.

Only other place I could see even potentially being in jeopardy is Salford, given their results on the field and the fact they will be judged on their current stadium rather than the proposed one.

I thought the Widnes fans were very dignified at the announcement. Taking time to reflect on the momentous decision, weighing up the pros and cons, formulating the correct response. Only eight seconds later (adjusted to allow for the time it takes for news to pass from Widnesian outer ears to cerebral cortex) for them to be jumping around the room as if it's feeding time at the zoo. The issue is about preparation and infrastructure - Widnes have got an unfair advantage on Halifax if the get accepted in July.

Not a chance in my view - at least a trip to Widnes does give your lungs a work out in actually finding the limited amount of oxygen in the air.

That won't be pretty, at least not if you take it back into the 80s and early 90s.

Obviously, not many of you have been listening hard enough? Steve O'Connor has said he will be spending the full 1.8 million on players and he also said he wants to be a big force, not just a team filling up the numbers. And to be honest I see Leeds as a team on the slide, so maybe in a few years we will be able to beat you lot.

Unless you can throw about big enough transfer fees to persuade other SL clubs to part with their top players, you're going to be scratching round the bargain bins of out of contract players in the same way every other promoted club has had to do.

You may well end up spending the full cap. Whether you get value for money out of it is another matter.

Here we are, only 2 hours after been granted a licence to play in the competition, and we've got them trolling on the board of the most successful SL team of the past 10 years.
