Didn't play mate, they had enough players anyway but he didn't had the registration card so I couldn't sign on today. Our young 'un got his first try though. They got beat by a fair bit though.

I liked the showing of highlights prior to the game. It was good lastn ight when they showed Mason knocking Fielden on his backside and then showed Peacock doing the same to Mason. Both got loud cheers.

That was quality then Mason at his press conference said he was full of respect for players like JP and then just laughed when asked about "Night Night".

I thought the new scoreboard was excellent but I do agree about the lack of any game clock.
I also thought that John Innes sex change operation could have gone better.

Did someone mention cake ?

Just out of interest, when is it an acceptable age to start going to places based solely on the type of cake they have?

I went to a birthday party last night purely and simply because I knew they had a Costco birthday cake on offer, as soon as it had been cut and scoffed I went home, the party held no more attraction to me.

So as a 27 year old would it be deemed unacceptable? I cant even blame it on not really knowing where I am.

As a 27 year old you should initially resist going to (for instance) Betty's Cafe in Harrogate for such a thing would cause outrage and consternation among the elderly of that town, but visiting (for instance) Costco just to buy one of their immense birthday cakes, even when (for instance) its not actually your birthday is probably a good place to start, I recommend Costco cake to all cake aficionado's with one proviso - don't get caught loading one of their pre-ordered and uniquely custom decorated birthday cakes into your trolley if its not actually you who has ordered it, cake fixation will do this for you and its no use trying to explain at the checkout that your middle name is Sandra and you love pink fairy cakes and yes, its your fifth birthday today, not when you are a 27 year old rugby referee anyway.

The only problem for me was when they edited the teams on the scoreboard they replaced players in the wrong positions. They had Clarkson on the wing and Singleton at Loose Forward for a while last night. Not a massive thing, I just like to have something to moan about!

I'd imagine the scoreboard operator has enough on his plate without trying to track the exact formation of the team and changing it round for every substitution.

Like wondering how to start the stopwatch that wasnt there?

Turn your head the other way and there's a big digital thing counting down, unless it's a bomb for Speed 3.

I liked the new screen. Great to be able to see replays of tries etc. As for the clock, the one in Carnegie Stand is visable from South Stand but would make sense to stick one on the big screen as well, plenty of space under the team lists.

My bad neck prevents me from turning my head round. OTOH I quite like the uncertainty of not knowing how long there is to go.

I like them to go really old-school when they display the score, and break it down in to 'G', 'DG' & 'T', like the old, old scoreboard used to.

Will we also see some kind of graphic for sin-binnings, like we used to?

On a separate matter, since Sky no longer has to erect a screen when they show games from Headingley, does the club receive a "rental" payment from Sky?

They still will errect it IMO. They did at Hull even though the scoreboard was being used too.

Sky used the new screen recently for a Carnegie match FWIR, so i presume they should use it. We will find out on Saturday.
