Warrington played OK-ish... good in parts, but not great.
Leeds OTOH were absolutely dire.

| Wouldn't disagree, Warrington did enough to win, comfortably, but only had 68% completion in the first half. Maybe that says more about Leeds than it does about Warrington?

| I said it last year and ill say it again our next coach shouldve been and should be a certain Mr Noble. I know he has not been a favourite in the past but he does know how to coach a team both attack and defence. I know some of you will go back to 2004 when he didnt pick Maguire for GB and Sinny was ignored but as a club coach hes the one for me.

He also hates Leeds with a passion, and would coach any team in the league rather than coaching us!

Your joking right. You trying to tell me that if the right package was offered to him he would turn his nose up at it, i dont think so. Yes maybe as an opposing coach he didnt like us but im sure he would do a hell of a lot more than McDermott seems to be doing.

Errrrr Maguire inherited that team not build it up. I seem to remember that When Noble arrived at Wigan they were very much struggling and he built a good fighting team which Maguire took over. So your statement holds no water sorry and all that

He did pick McGuire for GB in 2004, along with Senior and Walker. He even picked Diskin, Ward and Bailey!!!
No anti-Leeds agenda there.

| What worries me most (more than stupid errors in attack) is the dire defence. Whilst individuals miss tackles, its up to the coach to put a structure in place. Everyone complains about Wigan's defence under Maguire, but it works. Wigan do not get killed by quick PTBs because they don't allow them to happen - generally within the rules of the game. Leeds OTOH look like they have no idea what to do if a team gets a roll-on.
I wouldn't dream of sacking McDermott so early in the season - he has a lot of time to turn things around. Having said that, IF we crash and burn this year I'd hope we look at the example of Maguire at Wigan for our next appointment.

| It is too early to talk of sacking McDermott but things don't look good for Leeds. Missing Leuluai and Delaney cost us a lot of go-forward (in addition to long-term absentees Peacock, Bailey & McGuire). A bigger worry is our defence which has been poor in every game this season. This new emphasis on throwing the ball around also tends to backfire as much as resulting in points for Leeds.
I hate to say it, but Leeds under McDermott so far are beginning to look more and more like Bradford under McNamara. Let's see how Mac goes with a few more first choice props fit...

Would you swap McRae/Veivers for McDermott/Lowes if you had the option?

| It does make you wonder about what was going on behind the scenes at Headingley last year, in terms of the thought processes leading up to the selection of Brian Mac and the departures of McClennan, Poching and Cummins. The appointment looked very much like an 'old boys' selection in the vein of Daryl Powell as opposed to Smith and McClennan who actually did something prior to joining Leeds that suggested they would make it. The appointment of Lowes and Gibson in particular looked like desparation moves after it finally dawned on El Presidente that the job of Brian Mac's assistant actually wasn't particularly coveted by the top NRL assistants.

| I'd put it down to a team that were backtobacktoback champions, then suffered the inevitable slip from the top of the tree. It would be hoped that such a drop in fortunes would trigger a response to try and improve the team. At the moment, it's not looking like that. It's looking like it did when Powell got the job. A cheap option.

| I think it's far too early to talk about getting rid of Mac. I've seen most of Quins home games under his leadership and whilst on the whole I think he did a decent job, there was always a question mark over how much the relative lack of talent and depth in squad (compared to Leeds) contributed to declines in performance over the years.
My Quins supporting wife commented that the Leeds performance against Quins was like watching Quins last year and I have to say the errors, poor defence and apparent lack of structures against Wire had similarities to Quins last year too. FWIW I didn't expect a Leeds victory but I did expect a resonse to the Quins game.
Rob Powells most telling comment at the start of the season was that Quins had had to relearn how to defend in the off season - how telling a comment that is on Mac's ability as a coach will only be revealed as the season progresses. In my mind the players have to take most of the responsibility for their performance against Wire, but the coaching team can't be entirely blameless.

Better now than when more lasting damage is done. At least Quins had the pre season to learn how to defend again.

| How long do we realistically give him? I know were missing a few key players but in my opinion we've looked shocking in 3 out of 4 games so far. Here's hoping we improve but I can't honestly see it with those 2 at the helm.

| I have noticed that not one of the Quins fans that have posted on here have had a good word to say about the bloke. In fact most of them seem glad to be rid of him.
Only time will tell but I'm not holding my breath.
