| I'd say Hop, awesome. Plus the pie and a pint is a great deal! Veritas is good, but its a bit too much like a delicatessen. How about The Grove south of the river?

Nice little crawl, which ends up nicely placed for a train/bus/taxi home.
Oh, and the pye-fever deal at the Hop is cracking value.

| Does the Hop still have live music on Friday nights? Might be a bit on the noisy side for a quiet pint and a natter with the folks?

When I was last in it did have, yes. If you get a seat by the door it's quiter, but then it's colder. Suppose it depends on how much of an old rocker Wheels has got with him.

FWIH he is very much an old rocker (only met him twice) so the Hop may well be right up his street.
Cheers

| There are a couple of real ale bars in Meanwood now. One's called 'East of Arcadia' and is where the old Becketts used to be. Accross the road is a bar called 'Alfreds' which is a small bar owned by the same person who owns North Bar in the city centre. Would recommend both of them.

Really relaxing place to have a few drinks
I'm missing my real ale big time'"
Try again for the prices. Went in yesterday afternoon, Becks Vier was £3.20, i had Peroni at £3.60. My mate had a double vodka and coke which came in at a pricey £6.40

| Just for a bit of info for you Yorkies coming over on Saturday afternoon for the Wire game. The Tavern, on Church Street. 8 guest ales on at any one time ( the dearest one £2.30 a pint) all kept brilliantly, and it's only a 5-10 min walk to the ground.
Best real ale in Warrington by a distance
