However, all jokes aside, am I the only one who think's he's been hard done by? All this talk of Canberra sacking him, the NRL deregistering him etc. is a bit OTT for what is essentially a drunken prank. I am not condoning what he has done but the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion.

By all means fine him, use internal disciplinary procedures, keep the whole thing in-house. But the longer this goes on, the more damage it does the the NRL and the game in general.

Agreed. I wouldn't want Leeds to sign him, but whilst qhat's happened is either funny/distateful depending on your view, I wouldn't want him to lose his career over this. As it is wherever he goes for the rest of his life all he's going to hear is 'Aren't you the guy that......?' That's a pretty severe punishment in anybody's book.
