calders was a great player for us whilst he was at the club and i will never forget his contribution to the great revival at that same time,but in regards him coming back,then no chance i'm afraid

Like I said. A fit and on form Calderwood is better, but that fitness if for medical teams to decide not me, and considering Hull releasing him I guess that is your answer.

I think direct comparisons between Calderwood (at his best) and Hall or Smith are difficult. Calderwood brought raw speed, the league's best kick chase and tremendous marker defence. Hall has that raw power and size which is a rare weapon in a winger. He's got some learning to do, but he's already a far better close range finisher than Calderwood. Hardly short of space either. Smith on the other hand is probably the slowest of the 3, but he is the most complete rugby player, and has an eye for a gap or an angle, a predatory instinct and an uncanny ability to find the try line in big games.

Moot point, because I don't think the Calderwood of 2005(ish) still exists.

I think the club should always be open to the right player being available and improving the squad, but Calderwood wouldn't do that. We have 2 wingers who are currently better, with Watkins and Ben Jones-Bishop who can cover in the three quarters, even if they're not natural wingers. No objection to considering another option if it's the right option at the right price. Not Calderwood though.

I don't dissagree with any of that. I think you put it rather well.

For me though there isn't a winger in this country who comes close to Calderwood of 2005. I would love to see us work with a winger to match the way Calderwood played.

The only way Calderwood could come back to Leeds is if he offered to join on a pay as you play deal, and train with the squad to prove his fitness.

Considering your opening post appears to suggest signing Calderwood could be a smart move and the EL D post you're now agreeing with says the opposite you should fit right in around here.

Calderwood is the best natural winger of this generation & should have been a GB regular. It ain't gonna happen now though.

Not for most no, just for some like the thread opener for example who made a case for signing Calderwood.

The only question came at the end when they asked if anyone agreed and guess what ..... nobody has.

If you could guarantee a fit and on form Calderwood, I think a wing partnership of him and Hall would be pretty exciting - Unfortunately, the 'fit and on form' part has been and gone, so it's a no from me too. Unless of course he fancies training and playing for nowt to earn himself a contract - then I'd snap his hand off.

the mark calderwood we know and love is gone fallon. He's gone!!!! He died 5 years ago and bar a breif resurrection in october 2008 all that's left is a ragged bundle of bones.

It's a non starter, let's all move on with our lives and forget this thread was ever started.

The top and bottom of it is Calders played only four games the whole season.His workrate and commitment couldn`t be faulted when he did play for us.As posted by a previous person,Hull medics have probably found something amiss.
