Well just to show up your lack of knowledge once more, Millard made 26 appearances in 2006. Hardly featured?
What does Thackray leaving after 1 year got to do with anything?
Eastwood has made 15 appearances this season plus cup games plus playoffs.
Now, as TS has pointed out, what has all this got to do with your original post where you said that Leeds have "hardly signed anyone" over the last few years?

| Would love to see Scruton return to Leeds.
If the cost was losing Bailey and Ablett, it's a price I'd be willing to pay.
Would Scruton accept the pay cut though?

Seriously?
You regard Scruton that highly that even though we are already likely to be a front rower light at the start of next season and will be losing a back-rower at the end of the year you'd happily sacrifice two more forwards just to get him back?
He's a solid player, but not worth two of anyone's first choice 17 in exchange IMO.

| Didn't Scruton go to Bradford cos they offered more money than we were prepared too? Assuming thats correct do you think we would now want to offer him more money after an average season at the Dulls? I think not.
As for the team, play Webb at 6 and BJB at fullback.

I thought he was having his op now so he would be fit for the start of the season? Obviously his inclusion is on that assumption.
As for your question about Ablett. On his game (Hull in the CC for instance) he is a very good player, personally I just have little confidence in his ability to hold onto the ball and to amke the right decision the majority of the time.

I'd rate Scruton much higher than the front-rower (suggested) for exchange and the second rower could/would be replaced internally from within the squad. The emergence of Clarkson and the inevitable and overdue shift of Senior being more than adequate in that area.
A replacement for Eastwood (when he departs) would ideally need to be found though.

| Our pack is looking a little lightweight with Ali looking less likely to make fitness for sustained periods, Peacock out for a good while, JJB seems to be less physical these days, Ablett doesn't shake people up really and Clarkson (although he does hit well) not being a giant. Bailey has never really run with real power and Burgess, who is a big boy, runs well but still doesn't defend as well as you would like. And then there's Kirke.
With Eastwood looking like he's off, we could use Scruton back and we could do with another big hitting lump of beef as well. Shame a certain big hitting machine playing in Australia for Wests isn't homesick for the lush green pastures of Headingley.

There wasn't four second rowers promoted, hence why I didn't name them. And I think Stewart was the youngest of the players promoted and yet offered a 3 year deal, which is unlike Leeds unless they think highly of someone.
And yes, rhinoms he is one of the cumbrians.

| Given that Leeds appeared at the time to have chosen to keep Burgess over Scruton, which in hindsight wasn't the best of ideas if true (yes, I know the Bulls also offered more money), I'd rather not get Scruton back to lose yet another pair of solid squad members. Especially considering that both of them have significant improvement in them, are already making a strong contribution to the team, and that homegrown players are increasingly at a premium in the current Leeds set-up.

Where is the evidence that Leeds 'chose' to keep Burgess over Scruton?
One was in contract at the time while one was coming out of contract. The one coming out of contract having rejected Leeds' terms to stay was open to offers elsewhere and took the best one available to him in terms of (and I'm only guessing here) 1st grade/starting opportunities, length of contract and remuneration.
If you are correct and Leeds 'chose' Burgess over Scruton then that would be a concern on a footballing front.
In my view it's highly likely that Leeds chose not to compete for his signature once Scruton had rejected their terms much as they had done with Calderwood a couple of seasons earlier.
It's also interesting that Eastwood was secured as his replacement in the role of interchange prop, I wonder how cost effective that move turned out compared to retaining the locally produced potential future England International.

The locally produced future England International (isn't he already one, albeit when England was the dumping ground for players who couldn't make the GB side?) will have been offered what Leeds considered to be his market value.
That someone else decided to pay more than that and he opted to take that offer has nothing to do with what Leeds decided to do with the remaining salary cap available to them.
Unless of course you're suggesting that Leeds offered Scruton an artificially low contract just so they would have room to pay Eastwood?

I was using future England International in the present tense as it were, being comparable with past GB honours, being the ultimate aim beyond club recognition. That Leeds made an offer for Scruton indicates to me that Leeds only chose Burgess once that offer was rejected which was the point I was addressing.

I wouldn't know the thought processes of the club CEO anymore than I suspect you would. What you describe though may (and only may) aptly be applied to the other instance I highlighted from a couple of seasons prior.
