| Quote ="AdmiralHanson"And maybe because of what they did then, you'll have your little day out in London ... Let's say they didn't win the 1910 final and might have happend then in history ? A Leeds rugby team went on to be a mere footnote in the history of the game ?
Can we presume that you give 'Rememberance Sunday' a miss too, because that's lost in the depths of time or you've never bothered to meet anyone from those conflicts ?
Perhaps you should be following the likes of Crusaders, who's current contribution to the game can be written several times on the back of a fag packet .... They'd give their eye-teeth for the sort of history our club has.'"
Far better put than i could of done.
Good on you sir!

| History does matter in many different guises - I adopted the wargrave of a pilot who fought and died in the Battle of Britain. Yesterday to my horror, I noticed he isnt even mentioned on his towns War Memorial. The pilot in question isnt releated to me but by God he will be remembered in this, the month he died seventy years ago.
Many memories will be there when we walk down Wembley Way towards the new arch, where once the twin towers stood. Many will remember family no longer with us who had accompanied us on our first visit there - be it to watch Leeds or some other team. The former greats of our team who gave us such happy memories (John Holmes springs to mind here!) of previous visits to this stadium who are no longer with us. Thus thoughts of previous Leeds teams that have won or lost there will come to mind, the key players and the poor performers, the memorable scores and howlers - and the sending off!
Leeds - be it the loiners or rhinos have a long and proud history and it, and all who have contributed to it should never be forgotten or dismissed as olden day twaddle and irrelevance!

Are you kidding me?
Rememberance sunday? you're comparing this to that? Of course I don't give it a miss, people died for our freedom. That's real, it's life and death sunshine. This is sport. And frankly no, I don't care about our history from that time, it's a 100 years ago, it can't be changed.
I'm more interested in the here and now with regards the club.

No. I ''couldn't care less'' becauase i don't care about history which I personally consider unimportant, and the history of a rugby team is right up there with who invented the sport of bowls and who played the first cricket match. It just doesn't matter to me.

I don't know, i don't have a set of parametres. 96 was my first season going to watch the games, we nearly got relegated and nearly went bust. That for me is a big moment in our history and things could have been different if it didn't turn out as well with avoiding the drop and getting new ownership.

I seem to remember the 2007 home jersey was a sort of homage to 1910. I seem to remember the sleeve justifying playing in a predominantly white first strip wasn't anything new as it was first done in 1910.

Maybe there's loads of fans ,like yourself, who don't care about Stevo's little heritage centre in the basement at the George ....
... Thankfully, there are loads of other fans who do and when I was there pre-game on Saturday, it was doing a 'roaring trade'.

I'm surprised the club haven't brought out a replica 1910 CC shirt.
Missed opportunity?

Actually I mailed them in advance of the semi-final and suggested such an idea ...
IIRC, the shirts in the early years were just plain and I think that the shirt Leeds wore back in 1910 might just have been a plain white jersey.
It was argued that because of the three week lead-time between the Semi and the Final, there wasn't enough time to produce and distribute them. Also, this year has seen the most number of jerseys ever knocked out by the club : The Diskin Testimonial, the Home shirt, the Away shirt and the John Holmes pink one ... Not to mention the independant / unofficial ones

| I know that some mildly annoying posters wont appreciate this but I found it interesting to see that the 1910 side contained a Goldthorpe.
I wonder if he was any relation to Albert?

| The Goldthorpe at Leeds in 1910, who played a big role in their first Northern Union Cup triumph, was Walter the ex-Hunslet stalwart.
I expect marcel will be along shortly to fill in the family tree.
