| IMO Leeds would need to win every one of their remaining games to make fourth and I can't see that happening.

Mathematically, yes.
However I can't see either Saints or Hull losing more than one of their remaining five meaning Leeds would need to go unbeaten starting tonight.

I'm not that confident about winning tonight, If we do lose then I think 5th would be best we could hope for.

Don't Hull still have to play Wigan and Leeds at home and Warrington away? I'd say there's a decent possibility they could lose those three.

| if 1 beats 4 in week 1 & team finishing 4th wins in round 2 can 1 pick 4 in the clubcall
thought they were unable either team 2 or 4 if all the top 4 get to week 3

Yes and not only can they but you would expect them to. If there are no away wins before week 3 the danger is that week 3 just repeats week 1 and IMO that makes for a rubbish concept.
Quote ="doc-rhino"thought they were unable either team 2 or 4 if all the top 4 get to week 3'"
If that was the case there wouldn't be much point having a club call option if all the games went with home advantage in the opening two rounds.

| i didn't think they couldn't pick both 2 & 4 that would only leave 3
but not being able to pick 4 would stop a repeat round of fixtures and give an advantage to being 4th rather than 3rd

| Must win tonight to take off pressure and leave a gap from 4th to 5th of four points which should be enough.
If Leeds win remaining games they finish 3rd or 4th depending on how Saints go.
I think Leeds can win all there renmaining games and if they finish 3rd which is very possible and after the first rounds of eliminators we end up with.
Wigan
Wire
Leeds
Saints
Who will Wwigan pick in the club call ? (Yes Wire) Does that mean Leeds will play at home to Saints in semi ?
If so Leeds v Wigan
Final
Leeds Win ......simple !

I understand the format, ignoring club call and assuming current league positions 4 or 5th give the following paths:
4: Wigan A, week off, Wigan H
4: Wigan A, Hull H, Wigan A
5: Wakey H, Hull A, Wigan A
Cleary finishing 4th and winning in week one is the aim, don't think there is very much difference between the other 2 though, with 5th arguably easier. If we can get something like a first choice 17 out and some decent form finishing 5th won't break our chances.

We play Hull the week after a potential CC final, which would make winning at the KC difficult.

Yes I agree that gaining 4th and winning week one must be our goal. However not all is clear yet.
Wigan have a tough run in. Although the best side this year they are due a dip in form and have been fortunate with injuries. Warrington having beaten Wigan are now only 2 points behind and have a great chance to finish top.
Wigan: Hull (a) Leeds (a) Hudd (h) Hull HR (a) Brad (h)
Warr: Cat (a) St H (h) Wak (a) Hull (h) Harr (a)
Despite our up and down form we should gain 8 out of the 10 points available (assuming 1 further loss)
Whereas Hull will do well to get more than 4 more points (assuming they lose to Wigan, Warrington and Leeds) The final game at Hull could be with 4th spot the prize. If not do we rest players?
Hudderfield could only overtake us on points difference if they win all their remaining fixtures (including Wigan away) and we lose 2 more matches,
So IMO we do have a realistic chance still of 4th spot
Whoever gets the club call may choose to play St Helens rather than Leeds given our big match record plus more chance of our squad overcoming injuries better than Saints.
So it maybe we only play Wigan twice if we finish 4th and beat them in Week 1

| If it's Wigan, Warrington, Leeds and St Helens then the club call team have a very difficult decision.
After Saints game against Harlequins today, which you'd expect them to win then the run ins are as followed:
St Helens run in: Wakefield (A), Warrington (A), Bradford (H), Crusaders (A), Castleford (H)
Hull FC run in: Wigan (H), Harlequins (A), Crusaders (H), Warrington (A), Leeds (H)
Leeds Rhinos run in: Salford (A), Wigan (H), Castleford (A), Catalans (H), Hull FC (A)
Looking at that, you'd have to back Saints to get 3rd.
I think we will beat Wigan, but can see us putting up a dreadful performance against Salford/Castleford. And if it's a decider, I think we will up our game against Hull.
I'm confident we could go to Wigan and come away with the 2 points.

I don't share your optimism for the Wigan game given they only have the league to concentrate on,have Warrington breathing down their necks and we have the Cup semi the following week. Also, not that it's necessarily needed,Wigan will also have extra incentive for the last second Cup exit at our hands

I agree.
The Salford game is already a potential banana skin as is the Hull game in view of their home record this season.
We need to take it one game at a time, try to ignore the cup semi & see where that leaves us. Trite & clichéd I know but true nonetheless.

Cheers for that "olé"
See I'm a quick learner.
I've only ever used Ctrl & Alt with Del when the b*gger's frozen.
I've often thought that organisations should spend more time explaining to staff everything about the computer keyboard, at least to those of us who went to school when the slate & chalk ruled.
