As for one trick pony, well John Monie once described Jonathan Davies as a guy who could only step off his right foot. Doug Laughton must have found that amusing.

Sam Tomkins has a lot to do before he can be realistically be compared to Davies whatever Phil Clarke and Eddie Hemmings may say. An awful lot.

I had a great view and it was digusting behaviour by the Leeds fan and immaturity on Tomkins behalf.
As the Wigan players were heading for the tunnel they were getting plenty of good natured stick from the Leeds fans in that area. This mainly took the form of waves from the crowd, as in bye bye your out of the cup. Some fans were also giving verbals and one in particular was drawing a reaction with whatever he was saying(i was to far away to hear). A few Wigan players gave him a stare but Tomkins stopped and made to walk over towards him. At this point the Leeds fan spat at Tomkins. Tomkins then headed towards him but was restained by O'Loughlin who pulled him back and wrestled him away(something he had been perfecting for the previous 80 minutes).
Not a pretty sight and probably something done in the heat of the moment by both player and fan. O'Loughlin's actions were impressive. I didn't see him even make eye contact with the fan concerned, he just made sure his player was removed from the situation.

Of course. I wasn't comparing players, just comments.

I was going to say something about never giving opposition players that kind of abuse - especialy after winning, but then I remember Wally Lewis playing for Wakefield at Headingley.

He seemed to spend more time hiding at centre than even the 'great' Sean Long ...

I think people , and I'm guilty of it myself, object to the hype rather than the player and it seems like the player gets more than his fair share of stick. No witch hunt I think here.

I know. My comments are more about the likes of Clarke and Hemmings anointing the lad than you to be honest.

Leon Pryce was spared being on the defeated Bulls side in 2004 after he dislocated his shoulder, ironically in the win against Leeds in the Qualifying Semi Final two weeks before the final.

His losses were for the Bulls V St Helens in 1999 and 2002 and V Leeds while at St Helens 2007, 2008 and 2009.

20 or not he is playing a professional sport and should then behave in a professional manner. Fact is fans will always mindlessly give opposition fans the big licks but that unfortunately is part and parcel of the game. When i was 20 and at Uni I worked for one of the biggest banks in the UK in their mortgages team. i used to get f-ed and jeffed at on a daily basis because I worked on arrears cases. Just because I was 20 at the time didn't mean I reacted the same way, I acted in a professional manner just like i do now as a high ranking member of a companies IT team that obviously get similar treatment when people don't get what they want.

Yes Lockers didnt let him go over to the fan ( who most probably ran off or something along those lines) but Tomkins was never going to do a Cantona.

I wish I’d recorded the rant that some bog-brusher unleashed on me when I pointed out (to my missus) that Senior had steamrollered Tomkins. I wasn’t even talking to this to[size=100s[/sizeser but he took it upon him self to but his unwanted conk into my conversation and point our the young Sam would stand up to any player and that I ‘didn’t know what I was f*cking on about’ and that ‘he was better than that sh*thouse McGuire’ also that I ‘shouldn’t even be stood in their end’!
