I also remember when Eddie Waring used to commentate on under 16s RL in the early/mid 60s. Roger Millward was the star & he was even smaller & even faster than when he turned pro.

I played the Ray French drinking game once, it was hilarious and we got absolutely tw*tted. Maybe we should create a Sky Sports commentary drinking game to liven up the neutral games on Sky. I'll start with rule number 1:

One of the the things they do that annoy me is to take one player and put him on a pedestal, leading them to over-praise everything they do. People like Farrell, Lyons, Pryce, Eastmond.

Heck, I remember them claiming that Graham Bradley was the greatest [iever[/i overseas import. That alone should show that what they say is to be taken with a truckload of salt.

As has been mentioned earlier in this thread Phil Clarke compared Eastmond to Lionel Messi during the game

I like they way they do not know who the players are. Have certain players who they just love and go on and on and on and on about. and stevo is so anoying on video ref decisions, sometimes downward pressure is enough, other times moans because there is no control.

I no longer have Sky, but has Friday's result made them fall out of love with Wigan? They seemeed to be this year's choice for thier love-fest.

Saints have obviously hurt them too many times. Eddie and Stevo probably see them nowadays as prick-teasers.

As news of the Harlequins comeback was filtering through to Hull (where basically nothing was happening anyway apart from Sam Moa showing what an idiot coach Agar was in not selecting him last week) Hemmings was incredulous (and probably like the rest of us) was just waiting for Wigan to wake up and put the southern softies in their place.

By the extra time programme he was describing the result as the biggest shock of the night, then the season, then the decade, then the history of SL, then the history of the game, then the history of the world.
