For Leeds my first thought was Sinfield. But after a bit of thought I am going for Rob Burrow. Was close but Burrow edges it for me.

SL player for me, Big Les. Was the first player to be looked for on the Bradford teamsheet whenever we played them and never let the fans down. Always remember when Burrow got hurt and Les was the first on the scene doing what he could to help. Waste in RU.

Yep, if it's player of the decade, we need to look at all ten years, which is why I have Senior ahead of Sinfield.

Me too. I thought long and hard about Sinfield and his Harry Sunderland and Lance Todd weighed heavily but I just think that Sinfield's emergence really came in 2003 and Senior had already put in 2 seasons of quality already at the start of the decade.

That said, I wouldn't take much convincing that Sinfield or Cunningham were equally as deserving.

If the decade ran to 1995-2005 I would call Sculthorpe or Farrell.

2000-2010 is Senior, Cunningham or Long IMO.

2005-2015 will be Sinfield.

Peacock has always been a 100% player at the sharp end, when it comes to flair our own Harris & Maguire never let us down, but for all round skills, kicking ,defence, attack Sinfield has my vote.

Overall surely no-one really comes close to JP, a key player in the teams that dominated both the first and second halves of the decade, winning six of the ten Grand Finals contested?

If you picked your all time Leeds side I have no doubt that the likes of ET, Tony Currie, Cliff Lyons and Eric Grothe would not be far from the starting line up. But non of these players would be remembered for their longevity but their quality and impact.

For me Lyon brought real quality and showed on a weekly basis just how good the very top Australian are when they want to come and play

But in 2 years he made a massive impact - and as I said for me it is about quality not quantity

Senior was the better centre in 2005, when Lyon won MOS. The loss of Senior was devestating to Leeds such was his contribution that year. Saints won the league leaders shield but failed in both semi finals. Lyon made a significant impact on Eddie Hemmings underpants which were under constant strain when Saints were on Sky, I'll give you that.

IIRC when we beat table toppers Saints in the playoff Chris McKenna took Lyon to school for 70 minutes. Thats' right, Chris McKenna.

Most write ups or posts I've seen about that game have it as "Lyon was sensational and nearly beat Leeds on his own in the last 10 minutes".

He did indeed have a very dominant last 10 mins of the game, in vain, when Leeds already had it in the bag. I guess the tired old legs of 2nd rower McKenna could only take megastar Lyon to school for 70 mins. Shame on him.

Is that the same Chris McKenna that played State of Origin and played for Australia in the mid season massacre against England in Sydney!! The same could be said of Keith Senior is every test he played against Australia including the one he played against McKenna!!

We must agree to differ - Lyon is far too flash-harry for your taste - for you substance over skill every time - for me I want to see great players producing skills that cannot be replicated by virtually every player in SL - it is a question of taste and opinion.

McKenna was a centre who wasn't even 30 at the time - as soon as Lyon got his number boy did he take him to the cleaners - sign of a quality player - McKenna had to be substituted to save him further punishment.
