| Can definitely see him going to Warrington. Briers is getting old and slow plus Monaghan is leaving at end of this season isn't he?

| Maybe Salford have offered him a lot of money but he wants to play in Grand Finals & CC finals and thinks he would have a better chance of that at another club.

There's a subtle difference between the wholesale changes year in, year out of those times with maximising your potential within the constraints of the salary cap these days.
Warrington have finally got the right man in charge (except when he's away on International duty leaving Lowes to turn them to s[ihi[/it again.) Smith I can see turning Warrington into a major force, top three. Wealthy ambitious backer, nice new stadium, good supporter base, astute coach.
Good news for Super League.

That depends who is tying Leeds' hands behind their backs.
The difference between almost retaining the championship and just missing out could be a signing or two, using the full cap that is allowed.
If Leeds did that I'd have nowhere to go with this line.

As good a player as I think the kid is. If he manages to get a salary anywhere near that at this stage from ANY club, then I think the salary cap could be seeing massive changes in the short term.
Lots of clubs current young stars will be looking for big upgrades if he manages that. That is a ridiculous sum of money for someone at that stage of their career.

Agreed, but that's the problem with a free market. Players will get paid what clubs think they are worth. Some clubs just happen to have no skill whatsoever at estimating what that figure is.
He's had a good season against semi-pro opposition in a dominant side and two international outings against mediocre opposition, and half a season in SL where he's gone ok but not much more IMO.

Yes agreed. Is July the time when clubs/players can be approached to be signed? Maybe we might see something in the coming weeks. It's gone very quiet from GH of late. I'm suprised he's not mentioned about Smiths possible replacement/s yet... could be waiting for Eastwood outcome also, which is getting on my tits now.. either get it sorted or cut ties and move on....

| Anti-tamper deadline for players contracted to other clubs over here is 30 September IIRC, so you won't hear anything about new domestic signings before then - at least not for players coming out of contract anyway.

On the 10th March 2008 Gary Hetherington said in the YEP: [i"In terms of rugby league, in Australia there is no deadline date as to when you can approach players coming out of contract. It is pretty much a free market, as was shown by Gareth Ellis’ transfer. Quite a few players who are on the market now might not be in four or six week’s time." [/i
Could 2010's antipodean boat have already sailed while Leeds are tied to the (as yet ineligible) Greg Eastwood? The same Greg Eastwood who has an option to take up his Leeds contract but also is now nicely into his three year deal with the pace setting Bulldogs in this season's NRL.
Leeds should have moved on from Eastwood when his Visa was refused, he isn't even 'all that' as a player.

I thought it was a month earlier than that to be honest. Either way, you might hear of a couple of signings if the clubs have agreed, such as Calders to Wigan a few years ago and Long to Hull t'other week.

Pity the Broncos had half their side missing. It can't make up for the game in round two against the Panthers or against the Dragons. Those four points are not coming back, not that they need them at the moment.
I think I've seen more of Eastwood this season than if he'd signed for Leeds, they're on nearly every week including last week and this week.
Interchange prop (Nick Scruton's job last season) and no way an adequate replacement for Gareth Ellis even if he had of arrived.
Back on topic: player movement is good for message boards.

I disagree - this is the brightest talent around in a key position - the monies talked about will not be much different to the monies the likes of McGuire and Burrow would have been on at his age.
This is a very short career even if he earns at the quoted level for 10 years he will only earn what a chavball player can earn in a year.
At the end of their playing career they are basically starting again with a body that is worn out

Seems to be 50 minutes or thereabouts (usually starts on the bench) and still has trouble finding shorts that stay above his butt cheeks.
I don't think he's actual unfit though, he just looks it.

I too think he is potentially one of the brightest talents around, hence why I said "as good as I think this kid is". But I dont however, think any player at that stage of their carreer is worth risking nearly 10% of your salary cap on.
For Salford it might be a gamble worth taking, and building a side around. For a top club though, it would seem ridiculous to try and integrate that sort of resource into a team with other top players already.
In a couple of years when he has had 3 seasons of proving himself, then is the time to demand the money.

But by then he only has 7 years of earning potential at the highest level - not long - good luck to him if he can get the money.
Let's face it the salary has gone up in years which is in effect a salary reduction - why do everyone - Rugby club CEOs excluding - think this is a positive step for the quality of the entertainment on the field?

I bet there isn't a player that has played super league that was earning over £100k at less than 20 years old.
There has been many potential stars as good and better than Myler. Short career or not, why should he be in a position to demand more than them.
That is all I am saying. The wage he is after at this stage is ridiculous to me. In a couple of years when proven, I can fully understand it.

Iestyn Harris, Paul Sculthorpe, Farrell.
Let's turn this on its head would he be contributing any less to the team than any of the big earners - especially if he is the playmaker - surely he should be rewarded equally as well - age is purely a number.
