Whilst they continue to have noble in charge and sign average players like phelps,coley and phil bailey it's irrelevant who they "target" imo.

While I agree with your point, I don't know if I'd feel comfortable with Ainscough and Penny as a wing partnership. The likes of Thurston, Lockyer, Marshall, even Thomas Bosc would have a field day putting balls in the air to them.

Maybe it is good that they are eased in so that they don't quite believe the hype that is being placed on them. Look at how Penny has ended up after being touted as 'The Next Martin Offiah'. The only comparison I can currently make is that he plays at Widnes.

As we are looking for overseas players, I am at least glad that we are going for top class players instead of average overated aussies who can only get in a super league team because of their accent. Leeds had the right idea by signing players like Webb and Buderus.

Coley is a very under rated player. Not dissing our players but our equivalent is Kirke, and Coley is far better than that.

Interesting comparison when you consider coley was one of their "marquee" signings and we got kirke from the national league!
I personally would pick kirke on his contract over coley.
FWIW i've always thought coley was over-rated especially when karl harrison used to bang on about him at salford and he's done nothing to change my mind since he went to the pies.

I never understand the moans from the Wigan lot about him. But I dont dispute what you said, that when he was signed he was allegedly one of their better signings.

Coley probably takes up more cap space.

The problem with Coley is he tends to give away silly penalties on a regular basis and his ball retention isn't the best - that apart he is a pretty good player.

Kirke has shown his quality over the last 2 years and as such has been rewarded by being given a squad no. Coley has been slated by the Pies for the last 2 seasons and they want him out.

Silly or otherwise 7 in 14 Appearances this season doesn't look too shabby.
