No idea. I do know that the "buzz" among many Wasps fans about it is pretty non-existant. My mate who has a season ticket there reckons this is a non-starter. Obviously that's just fan talk and worth no more than the stuff you read on here, but since it's the other side of the fence, I thought I'd throw it in.

My Union knowledge is based upon watching 3/4 games a year but I just dont think Smith has the size to make it in a far more strength over speed game.

WTF are you on about, he would make a great RU back and the difference between League and Union in terms of the backs is becoming closer every year.
Additionally ff Hape can play at 10 in Union I am sure Smith can.

Strange how you have included players who were signed from Union clubs originally.

| Lee Smith seems to me to have similar attributes to Josh Lewsey hence the possible reason that Wasps are interested, plus I'd back Shaun Edwards judgement over anyone on here if it is true.
I too hope that it isn't & that Lee stays at Leeds but if he's offered the chance to go he'd be stupid to turn it down.
& that's regardless of mu views as to which is the better game.
As for the reasons to go to RU I think that people are stupid if they think that top RL players get the sort of money & exposure leading to future earning potential that the top RU guys get. Plus proper inernational competition at both club and country level.

I was disappointed that Leeds did not bring in a centre in the off season. G1 offered Soliola as a Leeds target over the winter and I stated he would have made a blinding signing for Leeds (the next day St Helens announced his signing for 2010.)
I might be shooting myself in the foot here but this was [url=http://viewtopic.php?t=410370&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0a recent centre discussion thread[/url
And here's the [url=http://viewtopic.php?t=409833&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0Soliola signs for St Helens[/url thread. I've nothing to hide or the time to review all 18 pages, so I'll just have to hope I didn't say anything I might later regret.

| Smith looked excellent last night IMO, albeit against a poor Hull team. We must do all we can (within limits of course) to keep him.

| Bit much the hype on here for Smiths performance last night, he made a few errors defensively, and unless I'm mistaken it was his poor positioning at centre which cost us a try before half time,
I'm also not sure what he offered at centre he didn't offer more of on the wing,
For mine smith is well underway to becoming a truly world class winger/fullback, I worry about the wisdom of trying to teach him a new position at this stage of his career when he really should be kicking on and fulfilling his promise
Hall, senior, a.n other, smith is a fearsome three quarterline IMO.

| He had a good game, much better than Ablett in that role. Not sure he is the long term answer. In regard to going to the dark side, he would have to consider the number of players who are rapidly coming back eg Walker Pryce. Also i believe many of the clubs are in money troubles cutting wages etc. Yes if you play international rugby union you get well paid, but how many people know the centres at Bristol, newcastle or northampton. I hope he stays but no player is bigger than a club.

If you mean from the kick through, then yes - you are mistaken.
Other than standing in the in goal area there's sod all he could have done to prevent Yeaman scoring from a perfectly placed kick and a well timed run.
If anything, you can ask questions of Brent Webb's positioning on that one, but not Lee Smith's.

I'll believe it when I see something more concrete. Did we sign Vainikolo in the end?

How many people in Bristol, Newcastle or Northampton know the name of centres at Leeds - why should they?
These guys play a minority sport when compared to Chavball and their noteriety is in similar proportions
