It’s not just the Catalan game, I always think we look a little vulnerable on the right when he’s on the wing, maybe not so much now that Toops is back though.

There were a couple occasions when Hall looked as if he’d suddenly realised that he was out of position and moved further wide. On both occasions the Frenchies where attacking down the middle but emphasised how easily he tends to drift in.

Am I really the only person on this board who thinks that Hall has had enough chance to prove himself and is just a little lacking?

Technique execution was poor on the first occasion. Elbows in ..eyes on the ball.. fingers hand outstreched....is the golden rule.

Possibly so, but all this chopping and changing of hall/smith has not really helped either to settle him into the role.

Hall is a cracking player and with the right exposure to the game can be a great boon to Leeds, this will lead to some muffed passes and mistakes sure but thats part and parcell of the game surley?.

I agree that smith should start next week but i wouldn't write hall off yet.
He just needs to regain confidence and as you've already noted toopi has only just come back and our right hand side has been makeshift more or less all year so that has been a major factor to consider aswell.

IMO (and that’s all it is – an opinion) we have a more versatile and reliable player in Smith.

Now I know he was tempestuous and had his faults but he seems to have worked through that now and maybe Hall will do the same but at what price?

Do we really need to give him first team run outs in important games just to hone his skills when we already have a better option?

Hall also contributed 8 points on Saturday

I also think Smith should start outside Toopi this week mainly due to the fact he has more experience of these games.

A rare mistake from a proven class winger, it’s a little unfair to compare Hall to Donald – the comparison I’m interested with is Hall and Smith.

The "better" option was already playing FB due to Webb's omission.

No, Smith has seniority over Hall and has been quietly going about nailing down the troublesome wing squad place with some solid displays recently, i am in complete agreement with you over his mentality but he has put in some very workmanlike stints in the past few weeks and should be rewarded with the wing spot for the semi due to his hard graft NOT because of Halls misdemeanors.

There were also all sorts of rumours about Smith's mindset for other games when he had personal issues. I've no idea whether it was an issue , but maybe, just maybe, McClennan thought it was better not to put more pressure on him.

Seems to me that certain posters are on players backs far to quickly.I think I'll just sit back and watch what happens with this one.

There maybe several reasons as to why Hall was played in front of Smith but both now seem available and fit.

From this point forward (presuming both stay available and fit) my first choice would have to be Smith.

It is becoming extremely obvious that I seem to be the only one harbouring these views towards Hall so maybe I should keep then to myself.

Maybe not the only one harbouring these views but IMO making incorrect calls about the use of Hall in big matches, there wasn't necessarily the options.

If Hall is handled right he can go on to be a very good player but this mainly needs to be reserves/ matches against poorer teams for the next year.

Look at how other winges improved their game, Gardner, Calderwood, Smith. Hall has the potential to be better than any of these if he works on his weaknesses and the coaching staff andsenior players (eg Donald, Senior and Toopi) work with him. Don't write him off yet but the hard work has to come from him.

Hall shows promise then certain games he becomes a bag of nerves. TBH this season there isnt too much to choose between him & Smith. Smith does seem to apply himself more, when he makes mistakes seems to take it on chin & get on with it, try to put it right next time.

I think some of you need to grow up a bit. Hall bagged us two tries thats pretty good in my opinion, Yes he made a error. SO WHAT!!! i have seen dropped balls and other amateur mistakes from donald webb senior mcguire and so on this season but we never want to drop them do we? Hall is a good player and looks more proffesional every week i see him. Give the guy a break
