Absolutely nothing like Jack Walker.
Gale was banned for punching, and walked out of a training session, all whilst being the captain.

| Just 4 games ago, most on here thought we were well placed for a top 4 finish.
I think Agar has done a good job in stabilising the club post-Furner and there was certainly effort and unity from the team who played in Round 1 against Wire.
I've been a supporter of Agar since he was appointed, but I do wonder if his strong suit is being a stabilising influence, breaking up cliques and creating a comfortable environment for players.
If that's the case, it's all well and good, but it will only take him so far. I cannot imagine him putting rockets up @rses or being the greatest motivator when the team is 18 down at half time.
The players seem to like him but maybe this squad now needs someone who is a bit more abrasive, dynamic and has good tactical nouse.
I think he's a decent bloke and he certainly cares. I wouldn't be surprised if he walks of his own accord if we go down to Salford.

That’s what the majority of us Hull fans thought and eventually hoped but it never happened. Think while the Hetheringtons are involved Agar is unlikely to go of his own accord. Thankfully Pearson bought the club and promptly dispensed of his services.

Yes, and then we lost 4 from our first 5 and it's become apparent very quickly that there's been no progression and we are way way off.
It may take more fan pressure to get rid of Agar, it's not nice, but we really need to not have him as a coach anymore and to appoint someone good, because this season is going to be an excruciating waste of time.

I actually find it a bit clinical. Impressive but clinical and not entertaining.
Id give my back teeth for us to be like that though don’t get me wrong.

| What Sts show is that coaching makes an enormous difference. They have some better players than us but the whole team plays with confidence and works to a plan. Put one or two of our players in there, even the ones who are playing really badly, and they'd also look really good. Do it the other way round and they might stand out for a bit but eventually they'd get dragged down to the standard the rest of the team is at. Walmsley is probably the exception because simply he's something we don't have. We'd somehow make him look like a pudding within weeks though....

Correct - it's absolutely down to the coaching, conditioning and the culture at the club.
We don't seem to have any of those at the moment.

Im not sure we look unfit, we look disinterested and not bothered.
The forwards might look gassed but that’s because we haven’t got enough of them.

The forwards are the issue - he is one of them - but he seems to escape criticism on here regardless of his performance. Hull just battered Leeds down the middle of Thursday what does that tell you?. All the others get stick on here but not him - Prior and Tetavano especially - is that justified?

The amount of forwards are the issue.
Check the lineups and see how many props they had.
Prior snd Tetevano don’t really get that much stick do they, people can see that they are getting dominated because we are too lightweight in the forwards not that they are individually bad players. Oledski is the absolute least of our worries, in fact he’s probably (along with Newman) the only players that would get in the current Saints side

Come on Chris, Oldeski wouldn't get anywhere near the current Saints side - Newman is a great talent but he is no Percival or Hopate at this stage.
How many forwards do we need - we have 15 out of 25 - perhaps its the quality that is really the problem not quantity.

If course Oledski would, don’t be silly. There’s a lot going wrong at the club but doesn’t mean you need to think everything is crap.

I don't want it to sound like being at a pantomime but he wouldn't get anywhere Saints side - he is a pretty average SL forward - on here he is blown up to be the next big thing - you have had your judgement clouded too. He hasn't done anything to justify the esteem he held here.

| Im pretty sure if Kyle Amor is in the Saints squad that Mikolaj might get a game or 2 lol.
Mikolaj certainly hasnt hit last seasons form yet, dont think hes been 100% fit, but hes probably the least of our issues. He should be the cornerstone we build around in the pack.
Easy to forget also how young he still is too. He makes ground and tackles well enough for me but he needs to develop an offload/passing game.
Hes going to be a good player for us tho im sure.

Whereas Matty Lees, LMS and Kyle Amor have done what exactly? Saints have one superstar prop in Walmsley, one who looks like he might become a superstar in Lees and the rest are just 'average SL forwards' playing in a pack that wins its battles more often than not thanks to a cracking back row and some excellent coaching. Oledzki is definitively not average, he has shown that. Everyone agrees he's a special player. He would be in every SuperLeague 17. Every one.

i alluded on here a few weeks back about austin not settling in as well he could have, he was mustard at warrington for not following the game plan, i heard from a few seperate sources that briers absolutely hated working with him, wouldn't surprise me if long was of similar mindset.

| Austin has a particular style and his strengths and weaknesses have been known for a long time. Ditto Sezer. Why would any halfback coach try to do anything other than get them to play to their respective strengths?

That's exactly how the golden generation operated. Peacock and to a degree Kylie backed up by average plodders (Bailey, Kirke, Griffin etc.).
Mik is a great talent and prospect, and should go on to be that Peacock type player, but he's not quite there yet. He needs to be given time to develop without the pressure of carrying the pack.
I think we slightly overlook how much our backrow did during the golden generation. Ablett and JJB were an unreal backrow pairing, with unbelievable engines. They did so much works in D that allowed Peacock and Kylie to focus more on taking the ball up the middle. Ablett had a poor end to his Leeds career, but you could argue he was our most consistent/under-rated player for a number of years.
Our current backrow options include Bentley (needs to stay on the field), Martin (good all-rounder but can go missing), Gannon (amazing prospect, but too early for him) and Mellow (great athlete, but personally I think he's too soft).
Our props are all athletic and fit, but there's not one big body in there that's hard to handle the way Satae was on Thursday. With Holroyd injured, our recruitment in the off season looks a lot poorer.
