| cold light of day that was a brilliant performance.dominated large parts.
we are a better team with a run of games. stop/start for international breaks does us no favours. I'm confident once we get this break out of the way we'll go on a decent run, especially with james and Solomon back

No not at all Tad, apparently he was looking on this site just before kick off and it spurred him on to greater things . It was a really good finish from him, think he may have been pulled for offside in The Prem but who cares, he did what he was there to do. I still wouldn’t have him starting until he can prove his worth over a number of games. The reason he has been warming the bench is because he’s offered absolutely nothing to the team for large parts of his career at Leeds. Tbh I’m not bothered if he does absolutely nothing for big parts of games if he can come up with the goals, but if he isn’t scoring he offers little else, unlike Joseph. As for Meslier, it’s pointless speculating how the ball moved etc, etc it was just terrible. Having said that, if we look beyond what was overall a good display, we looked really vulnerable at the back last night. Sunderland wasted plenty of really good chances so when we’ve all got over Meslier’s howler a draw was probably a fair result. It certainly didn’t feel like that at the time though.

| we missed ampedu. he would have filled the hole in front of the back four. they created hardly any clear cut chances.
as you say joseph offers much more
except goals

We miss Ampadu but they had far too many strikes at goal for my liking. We’re better when we go forward so let’s hope we spend more time doing that over the course of the season.

| Rothwell and Gnonto had great games.
Would have taken a draw before kick off but defs two points lost.
No surprises Meslier messed up, he just isn’t good enough. And now his confidence will be low and he will make more mistakes.

| Think I`ve just about calmed down now and like others have said would have settled for a draw at the start.
Gut wrenching that Meslier holds that ball it`s game over and we take the 3.
Meslier does strike me more of a deep thinker type keeper and I just hope he can put it out of his system save a penalty and goes again.
I do think we should look to play 3 in midfield with Ampadu or AN other alongside Rothwell and Tanaka.
I`m assuming the following will be away on International duty:
Darlow, Rodon, Firpo, Tanaka, Crew, Gnonto, Aaronssen and Joseph.
With Firpo, Tanaka and Aaronssen arriving back Thursday before we play Blades on the Friday.
Don`t suppose they have anyone travelling home late by any chance?

That`s fair comment Tad and when shown again it does look like a googly in cricket terms.
My first impression was it went through his legs, then I thought he threw it in. By the sounds of it a freak goal.
Interesting how Firpo stormed off the pitch when he has sometimes cost us games himself.

| I'm not having that there wasn't anything he could've done there. There was no pace on the ball, and there was no pressure on him. Either he catches it on the full or takes a step back and catches it after it bounces

Yeah he should have done better, he’s lost concentration and missed the movement of the ball.
If it was so hard to catch you’d see these kind of howlers all the time.

| I’ve only just got over Friday. I’m trying to forget it ever happened…
Plus sides, we played well all things considered. Rothwell and Tanaka were good, they won’t be tested much more than that this season. Gnonto was absolutely superb. Piroe did very well and took his goal lovely. Thought Joseph looked shot of confidence when he was on though.
All in all 2 good away points. Interesting to see what we do in the free market… January window probably can’t come soon enough though. We just need to make sure we’re in the mix for top 2 at that point which I think we will.
Oh and Friday night kick off is a joke after international break

I would imagine Firpo, Tanaka and Aaronssen will be sleepwalking come Friday night.
Neither will know if they`re batting or bowling.
Only hope is James plays and Gnonto fills the ten role and possibly Byram for Firpo.
Not a lot of cover for Tanaka though unless Shmidt can play there first half at least.

I’d be amazed if we didn’t bring in a midfielder free agent. Must be someone out there we can bring in who we can get fit over the international break

| I just don't see us bringing anyone in until January. By the time any free agent gets up to speed it will likely be nearly January anyway. They'll obviously consider it, but I doubt there's anyone whose available that they want

| Know what you’re saying, I’d say it’s this international break or nothing imo as it’d be a decent time to get some fitness dome. But then there’s match fitness too but let’s see. Someone may come back from qatar or something

Didn’t take long for the Goalkeepers Union to come out in support
The pundits were saying the international break will leave Meslier frustrated at not being able to right his wrong, but I disagree. It would have been straight into the lions den for him this weekend, tremendous pressure. I’m happy for the break in that respect, we won’t forget what happened but will be talking about many other things by the time the next game comes around.

given he was slagged off for, ridiculously, not saving a penalty he was never getting away with this one!!!!

| It did spin away, but, he let it land and took his eye off the ball, you could see it was spinning, it's a howler. He could have caught it before it bounced to negate the spin, or he could see it was spinning and should have anticipated it moving... it's a big mistake no getting away from it.
However, we move on, get behind him as we have no other choice, Darlow is no better, he's the best keeper we have at the club and need him to get his confidence back.

The last thing we need is idiots in our own crowd cheering ironically whenever he collects any easy ball for the next few games. His confidence will be fragile and it will be the last thing he needs. I’m sure we can expect it from opposition fans but he needs to know the Leeds fans are fully behind him.
