| im pretty sure re-signing scotty this season would suggest he is going nowhere. im sure GH has his $hit together enough not to re-sign a bloke then let him go a few months later
Why would anyone want to do a thing like that ?

| IF Leeds signed Atkins, Smith and Gibson leave, that would give us Hall, Donald, Atkins, Watkins, Senior, Broughton and Coady for the threequarters. Actually seems a tad extravagant - perhaps expect to see Broughton leave also? Wouldn't blame him if he went to another SL side as he hasn't had a single game for Leeds yet.

| But is he under contract for next season? I understand Gibson isn't, so he wouldn't be part of any deal.

| Quote ="The Biffs Back"I have heard that the Rhinos are again "actively" persuing the signature of Ryan Atkins from the Wakefield Wildcats for next season
This is not speculation on my part, but from someone whom i know who happens to be connected to the Wakefield club, the Rhinos also tried to do this deal last season but Wakefield resisted.
Will the Wildcats be able to refuse again ?
Read into this post what you will, but could this mean that there could be some movements within our squad for next season ?'"
Smokescreen and Shenton spring to mind.

Whether or not the Rhinos can do the deal is clearly in the Wakefield clubs hands !'"
Leeds did make a move last season. But have not made a move this season. It is Wakefield who have approached Leeds and it is Wakefield who are looking to actively sell Atkins, for the right price.
Whether Leeds sign him is then up to the price I suppose.

| Quote ="G1"He's been OK and probably the best we've had there. He's had some lapses but looked the part against Hull.
However, I've seen nothing yet that means I'd prefer him at centre to Atkins and Senior which (subject to either adapting on the right) seems a powerful combination. Then there's Watkins and Coady.
Which, if Smith stays leaves him, Hall, Donald and even Watkins and Coady vying for a wing spot.
The only way I can see Broughton having a future in our 1st team is if Smith departs otherwise he's well down the pecking order, IMO.'"
Next year would be pushing Senior's centre career well into veteren. If we do have Atkins on-board, and Gibson does depart along with Smith, we would have the opportunity to gradually move Keith into the pack with Watkins and potentialy Coady developing into the centre position? I can see Broughton getting a chance on the wing - especially if Donald's form continues the way it is. I guess he has signed for one more year?
I also think we will another signings in the backs. I just have a feeling that we will have some cap space available when Burrow, Sinfield, Peacock, JJB, Webb and Ali all move to Warrington.

Now he's done with internationals I don't see a problem so long as his form continues.
Besides, moving him into the pack will hardly reduce the wear and tear on his old bones.

| I keep hearing that Senior is on his last legs, but his form suggests otherwise, and he's not really showing many signs of becoming highly injury prone. Maybe slightly more than he used to be, but only because pre-2005 he could not be harmed by conventional weapons.

i would think the club would also listen to what the player wanted to do. at the end of the day i doubt atkins would go somewhere he didnt want to just because wakey could profit the most.

I'm saying that if Wakefield wanted to sell him they would sell him to the highest bidder.

| while atkins would be a good signing I'm not sure he would be the best signing. He is still and incomplete player, while further developed than Watkins, will still need time to develop into the best he can be. However he would offer needed structure and experience to the back line.
We got the money to spend, why not spend what our rivals do?

Remember when Leeds were offered 50K more by Featherstone for Lee Crooks than the Castleford deal?
Now I'm not saying that Leeds are Wakefield but a decent club who wants to employ players in the future will consider their choice to some degree.

Sorry it sounds like I've confused everyone, I understand that Wakefield cannot force a player under contract to move to a club if he didn't want too, all I meant is that Wakefield would not give a toss were he went all they would be bothered about is getting the most money they can.

Not confusing for me. You are right. Whatever the highest bidder gives Wakey for Atkins is what price he will go for, even if that just means other bidders increasing to that amount.
What Atkins decides to go for is then another matter.
