Not sure if we'll be contenders in the shake up this year, we'll see. Whether it's Lui or Eastmond we will need an effective 6 whatever happens, along with better luck with injuries.
I do think we'll be up there again next year though, subject to one or two more key signings.'" thought the competition wanted everyone same level , not many tears were shed for northern

| I'm being slowly won round by Mellor. Seems to have cut out the dafter pens, making more of his tackles stick and running better lines .

Have to say he was pants when challenging in the air yesterday though. Jury is still out for me.

| Trueman will go to Wire with Powell if he goes anywhere. Just don’t see why he would want to come to Leeds .

Not sure you can have any basis for that comment. You have a single game to judge him, with a massive injury list when he hasn’t played any game for a year and hasn’t played RL for about 9-10 years.
On top of that signing a Marquee stand off sounds great but a fair number of teams would like to do that. Signing somebody Marquee from the NRL doesn’t mean anything, good example Widdop

| Why pay marquee money to a stand off who will just stand at 1st receiver watching our 2 goons at hooker pass to a prop on the last or run aimlessly off a slow ruck? Might as well pay me 50 bob a week and i will stand there. Brad thanks for the pass but next time could you aim a foot in front of my belly button so i can run onto it rather than a foot behind my hip please? Joke.
Dont care if our stand off is marquee or not but from somewhere we need a top quality 6. This squad is crying out for one.
Lui has done the job he was brought in for, which at the time was to keep us up and steady the ship. His contract is up this year and its time to upgrade a vital position.
A top quality stand off and we are a contender again. Next season is the time to add one.
When Prior, Mik and Tetevano are around our pack is very good i hope Prior stays but we will see. Those are the 2 priorities for me.

| Surely, the taking it in on the 5th tackle was an Agar tactic rather than poor decision making from our hookers. If it was not a game tactic then I would be very criticial of the hookers.
It was very frustrating the amount of times we took it in on the 5th. I can understand why teams do it but surely it is better to go for repeat sets or challenge for tries than simply play it safe and score nothing?

| Being subjective he calls what he sees, he's super fit and usually in a good position to see clearly, applies the rules as he sees them and I don't think he has a bias to any team in particular, even if it does appear that way to both sets of fans at the time.
He does not make any team win or lose a game and if you put him in a position to make a call then you can't complain at what he sees.
Reffing is an unenviable job in any sport but we wouldn't have a game without them.
I'm as guilty as anyone at bagging them during a game but that's emotion and passion getting the better of me.
Give the guys a break, I honestly believe that they do the best job they can

Stuart Cummins wasnt the fittest or the fastest but he could read a game. Watch Antony Sullivans great try for Saints at Wigan. Cummins was waiting for him in the in goal, he saw it before it happened and get pedalling.
Ironically Stuart was the one who made fitness a priority and people like Ashley Klein was fast tracked cos he could run all day long, he needed to cos he had no understanding of the game.
Kendall is similar i feel but eh anyone thinking Kendall cost us the game Thurs has far less understanding than he does. If anything he helped us with the latitude he allowed at the ruck.
Some bizarre calls last night at KRnt but in the main i think the refs have made a good start this season actually.

| I dont think anyone has said or intimated that Kendall did cost leeds the game (he was close for kr last night). I'm saying (in my opinion) his performances are consistently not of the required standard, you know in the same way someone may suggest that of a players performances.

Cas have finished above us last couple of seasons. Cas play in a style that you could argue suits him. He rates Powell and the way he could develop him.
In terms of wire they will likely offer more money than us, especially if they ditch both widdop and Austin when Powell comes in. Again he rates Powell and how he will develop him.
Agar isn’t known as a coach to develop players, in particular half backs (he may look at Mclelland in that regard)

You say that Seth, and most of us would agree, but he was appointed to a major final last season and onto International group of referees so the powers that be clearly see something differently.

No they haven't, we finished well above them last year won The CC
Since Powell as been at Cas they have won the LLS same period we have 3 cups 2 GF 1 LLS and we are in transition, ludicrous to suggest Truman would not consider signing for us we are likely on our way to being a real force and a generational team again could win 3-4 GF in next 10-12 years why would be not be a part of that, he may well follow Powell to Warrington and get a big pay out, but I reckon he would win far more with us.
But I reckon he’s not even massively on our radar.

I'm not sure Trueman needs developing he's a pretty natural player but I'm sure Sean Long could teach him a thing or two. I personally don't think we will be in for him as we have signed Eastmond. As I put earlier I'd Eastmond doesn't kick on then I would hope we would at least test the waters to see if he was available.

| I think they'll be patient with Eastmond given that he's already at the club. Watching him on Friday reminded me of seeing both Sandow and Barba for the 1st time in SL. They were both way off the pace but within six weeks they were winning matches. Not saying Eastmond will go the same way but the ability is there. Trueman is contracted to Cas for this year and next, so any club in the market for him any time soon is gonna have to pay a whopping fee on top of what will be close to Marquee wages.
