100% I know that there has to be an interim period and wholesale change can't happen overnight but the whole coaching team was responsible for our current performance levels and JJB Long and Walker are equally as culpable as Agar. To be fair to Agar he seems an honourable man with good integrity who was working on a 6 month rolling contract which was only supposed to be short term. Also what other duties has he had to pick up since Sinfield left. He took responsibility and stepped down. The other guys only have to coach but have been strangely quiet about their roles in our current plight. Ultimately its down to Hetherington why we are in our current malaise.

How do you know you this ? He was trying his heart out all game, and only player who looked like they could break the line. Chatting and j-ing them up behind posts. Only one sticking his neck out…..

Absolutely nobody in the know was saying Suttcliffe was the most talented kid they've ever seen, anybody who was saying that were clueless. People in the know would tell you that Stevie Ward, just the year group before, was considerably better and considerably more talented.

They are both clearly very talented players though. And bottom line is these were the two that were supposed to lead the new era…

Fwiw in think if Stevie was still a player and captain, things would be very different now……

He isn’t the head coach, im really not sure what people were expecting when calling for Agar to leave, we weren’t suddenly going to magic up a new coaching set up in 4 days

People say wholesale changes are needed but who in the club do you trust to make those changes and get them right?

There is enough talent in that squad, however inbalanced it may be, to perform much better than it is.

There is a real lack of leadership on the field, off the field and in the boardroom also. I witnessed Rob Oates screaming at Leeming and Handley last week, hes a Director ffs. Totally unacceptable, embarrassing and highly unprofessional.

Was things right under Sinfield? No, absolutely not, but there was a spirit and culture developing at least. Nine meetings he had with Gary and 2 included Caddick outlining he was unhappy not being allowed to do his job because of Garys interference and spending most of his time doing Garys work. Well here is the result of that. A leaderless group taking short cuts, no discipline in the group and no accountability. The message from the boardroom is the discipline in the team is fine its all the refs and disciplinary commitees fault. Well its not its a lack of leadership within the clubs fault and its unacceptable.

Imagine trying to recruit the best local talent on amateur deals when other clubs are offering money. What a joke. They talk about developing youth and act like that. Investment in youth development is vital.

The issue is at the top. Out of touch, out of ideas and out of contacts to help sort this mess out. I really hope I am wrong and we get this sorted quickly. Its not good enough for Leeds Rugby League at all.

So like i say, nobody in the know was saying Suttcliffe was the best lad they've ever seen. Even in the academy he was a good, not great, player. He was one of a few good lads along with the likes of Learmonth and Baldwinson to come through the same Scholorship team, he wasnt regarded as any bigger a talent as they were, Williams and Hampshire, in the same age group as him at Wigan, were regarded as better talents. Ward was miles ahead of him, he was something special coming through the ranks.

In Suttcliffes defence, he handled first team rugby well when he first got his chances, adapted quicker than a lot of youngsters do initially and had some impressive games. But at the risk of repeating myself, absolutely nobody in the know was saying Suttcliffe was the most talented lad they'd ever seen.

If we just ram the recent history of the club down the players throats at every opportunity eventually they'll play like that, no?

Harking back to kev, rhinos DNA, golden generation it's all doing harm. And as for God, refiners fire and providence, if there was a god they'd have bigger fish to fry than who to put in charge of a rugby team!

So many players just shouldn't be in the squad. Sutcliffe, Briscoe, Thompson, Mellor, Dwyer, Donaldson are just the start. I know Donaldson gives effort but that is literally it, and if everyone else put in a decent stint he wouldn't be in the team. He was dumped by KR when they were dire before we signed him and yet he's one of our better forwards. Too many players as well as coaches are only at the club because hurting their feelings came ahead of decisions for the benefit of the team.

I really hope GH isn't as out of it as Marty's suggesting. If he didn't watch JJB's press conference and wonder what the heck he was going on about then he's been around him too long. He reminded me of David Brent when he was hired to do a motivational speech.

I'd say we're in far worse state as a club than anyone ever imagined. The only way to fix it is a new broom. St Helens next week could be record-breaking in all the wrong ways.

If the reports of Maguire coming back are correct, it could well just be more of the same, trying to relive past glory with the same people, in different roles. Problem with that is, as players they were among the best, as coaches, they're not.

I struggle to listen to him at the best of times , but bring all that stuff into it , and it’s big no from me.

On the flip side Friday against saints could be a kick start to a few better results.

Saints have shown they are beatable. We could have Holroyd and Fusitua back, we can give them a game.

I might be wrong Matt but those rumours seem to have been started by a wind up twitter account. Nothing against Maggsy, hes learning his trade the right way under an experienced coach and he should continue to do just that.

I’d honestly play the kids vs Saints. Get the rest into a mini pre-season camp, and try and iron this crap out of our performances….

Playing the kids would do a lot of harm v Saints. Our kids are too young.

Saints turned up at Toulouse minus a few and with the wrong attitude. I highly doubt they will do that against us. They will love nothing better than rubbing our noses in it well n truly.

Agreed theres a time to ‘throw’ the kids in, and a home game against the best side in the comp when confidence is low is the absolute worst time to do it

We've got a week off after Sts. There's no point throwing kids to be slaughtered. I've seen that before under Douggie and it was no fun for anyone, even the opponents. The only choice is to try to pick the best team we have available.

Then we have two weeks. I'd not worry about the Sts result, and focus on what needs to happen during that break - like Shabino says, a camp might be a good idea. Treat it as a second pre-season. It would be ideal if we could get a new coach in right after the Sts game to give them a chance to rebuild what they can.

I honestly think Maggsy is a student of the game. With this, I think he wants to earn his stripes and learn from Smith. I cannot see him jumping into what is a loose situation at this point of his career.
