| I thought Tom Briscoe has (not officially announced yet) /is signing for Wigan to replace Pat Richards?
I think all this talk of him coming here and BJB going to Warrington is BS

Not sure Clark has turned us down at all, as from what I hear we have never offered anything, despite being interested previously.
Always said I would love Clark here at Leeds, but last night at young ones rugby training I was speaking to a well known top Yorkshire scout, and he was telling me that Morgan Smith (I think it is) at Leeds is an absolute freak, and that this scout would be shocked if he is not an international by 19, he is that good. Apparently still much younger than the teams he is playing in, but so much better. So will look forward to that.
With regards Briscoe, I think he is a super player, and IMO better than the two wingers we have. However, I totally agree with the sentiment that we already have two damn good wingers so why utilize the money in that area. Wing is the easiest postion in the team to fill, so I have always been of the opinion that top level money shouldn't be thrown at that role unless you have plenty to throw. We have much more pressing roles to cover.

If you read the Hull forums, they will certainly not weep buckets when Briscoe leaves and IMO he is no way better than the talent we have. Briscoe would be an utterly pointless signing. Wigan bound. Salford if he wants a healthy bank account and no chance of ever winning a trophy!

If you read the Hull forums previous seasons and before it wasn't announced he would be leaving them, then you would have a totally different view. I can't see any relevance to what I put.

| The fact that other areas of need exist is a complete red herring.
If a class player like Briscoe becomes available we should be interested. In my opinion, at his peak he is better than BJB (but not Hall). An ideal scenario would be to sign him and retain BJB. We would then have 6 absolute class players for positions 1 to 5 and, as we have seen, it has been rare that players 1 to 5 have all been fit and available the same week this year. Perhaps TVOC could tell us how many games that has actually happened.
I like BJB. He has developed into a very good winger. I thought initially he would be an out and out full back but he has really come on. I would hope we don't lose him. If we do, and we get Briscoe then, IMO, we have upgraded. If we get briscoe and keep BJB then it's a cracking piece of business.

| G1-i do see yer point re-If quality is available then should be interested but with the SC the way it is and how our FR are looking i think we'd be mad to sign Briscoe and retain Bjb.
Imo keep Bjb we have players in the U19's who can step in and fringe players like Keinhorst the £££££ should go on the pack ,upgrading youngsters deals or put aside for a rainy day.

I don't know how long we'd keep BJB if we were to sign Brisco as well. He'd only be used to replace an injured back. Fair enough we've had plenty of those this year but assuming all is well, having a player of BJB's standard sat in the stands would be a decadent luxury.

Totally agree.
Mind you having said that the way our injuries have been going this year BJB and probably Briscoe would get plenty of games.

I'm sorry, but Briscoe is definitely a better player than BJB and some would argue better than Hall. I've seen him do things I believe only he can do whilst he has been at Hull, literally making tries from nothing. He's more than just a finisher, when he's on top form he's a world class creator, too. I am very sad to see him leave the club, especially to a SL rival. I genuinely think he is good enough to make it in the NRL. When he announced he was likely to leave, that is when some Hull fans started to doubt his ability.

A better winger than BJB? - Yes, a better all rounder? Then no. BJB is a full back that we've shoe-horned into the wing spot but can drop to centre if needed, making him a very versatile outside back.
IMO Brisco is an exceptional winger but not quite as good as Hall. That still puts him in the top two in SL. If Leeds were to sign him it would be hard for anyone to argue that we didn't have the best wingers in the league.

So, in terms of signing Briscoe as a winger, he would be the better choice - I prefer specialism in positions, but I do appreciate the value of versitility (we all love Sir Richard of Whiting). Depends on what Brian Mac prefers.
You would have the best two wingers without a doubt. Charnley has had a better season, but not as good as these two IMO.

| I think Briscoe is probably a better winger than BJB, but not by enough to make it a worthwhile swap.
I also think that as good a player as BJB is already, there's a really special player in there somewhere. You get flashes of it, but I'd like to see more. The near-try at Wembley in 2011, for example, where he burned Pat Richards like he was nobody on the outside in not all that much space. There probably isn't another winger in the league who can do that.
I think with Briscoe you're getting a top-class player, but one who hasn't got much more to show. I think the possibilities are far greater with BJB. An injury-free run in the team should help.

They're different types of winger, it's a bit like querying whether Alan Smith was better than John Atkinson.
The difference is marginal IMO - particularly on 2013 form - and balanced out by BJB's ability to play full back.

| Replacing a good player with a better player certainly makes sense for the wing position but does it make the squad stronger. Dpeends who is coming through in the positions that BJB can cover

You know those really special things BJB nearly does, well Briscoe does them.
Not sure why you think the celing for BJBs potential is so much higher, Briscoe is nearly two years younger
