I sense a lot of bitterness, something you always find from non Leeds supporters. It doesn't take long for a Hunslet fan (if you can find one), to tell you how much they hate Leeds. If seems their reason to exist, not to be happy in following their team, but to get red faced in anger about how well Leeds are doing. As for "fiercest rivals", grow up. A lot of young Leeds fans think Hunslet is where all the gypsies park their caravans, they don't even know they have a rugby team. What makes your 70 year old fans "Ultras" by the way, do they put some go faster stripes down the side of their mobility scooters?

I have to admit I agree with him about the drum. Other clubs manage to make a din without musical accompaniment so why do we need to clap/sing/rejoice to that infernal racket.

Exactly mate. If you are easily offended, then maybe the Internet isn't for you. Simple as that really.

The best part is that some of the 'Ultras' who are so vocally against the hook up with Leeds were actually a part of the Hunslet Board who oversaw this, and previously were singing the praises of the hook up with Leeds and the Leeds staff involved - there was some serious brown nosing on Social Media of people like Eaton and Rob Oates.. Until they were no longer part of the Hunslet Board, and now it's back to the hatred and despising the hook up.... LOVE IT!

I do hope the Hunslet Ultra's don't result in any "nasty" chants to the Loiners there to support their team tonight...

You know an awful lot about the ultras, as i said before things that only somebody from or close to the group would know.

I think you are a closet Hunslet fan. Maybe one of these who walked away from the the club when the partnership with the Rhinos came into being expecting the club to cave as a result. Now you see what the ultras are trying to achieve and the success they are having and look on in envy but wont come back as you would lose face. There are a few about.

You're barking up the wrong tree I'm afraid fella - certainly never been a Hunslet fan, though I would be more than happy for the club to be successful, South Leeds has long been a breeding ground for RL talent - a strong Hunslet team would only improve that moving forward (and then Leeds can continue to mop up the best talent

I have contacts involved in the Leeds/Hunslet partnership, and it just makes me laugh at the hypocrisy of some of the 'Ultras'.... Well actually, the whole idea of the 'Ultras' is quite amusing - you must admit, it's all a bit 'Primary School gang' like isn't it...

I said in my first post, we didnt give ourselves the name, it just came about as a laugh and stuck. We are just a group of fans out to support our team. If you are there tonight, you will see what we are all about.

I'll be there tonight, and I was there plenty of times last year too - I know the majority are well meaning (3 of the 5 of you

), but in a small group, it only takes a few bad eggs to ruin it for you all and give the impression you're a set of morons... And it is still above all very 'cringe'..

I recall reading on the Wigan board the threads about the Brigants group that got going there. Did sound like a well meaning group started by proper supporters in the beginning. But then as it grew more people joined who were the chav-tastic, wannabe hooligans types who were more interested in looking 'hard' than the team itself.

Survey done

A few years ago I would have said the difference between football fans and rl fans is that rl fans are just that, fans of the sport first and foremost.

It's subtle but I think that is changing and you can see a football mentality coming in at times.

I hope I'm wrong but I'd love to see this type of survey done in ten years time and see if the results, whatever they are, are much different.

I was unfortunate enough to be sat in front of a few teenage Rhinos fans in the first half who couldn't even speak to each other unless it was in the form of a chant. Foul-mouthed and ignorant are understatements. Decided to move away for the second half so went to the end of the stand nearest the Hunslet line. Pretty much the same except the proponents were middle-aged! Decent game though.

All in all it was mostly harmless. No real nastiness, the usual "we ate wharnos" and the obligatory "shoot the rhinos scum" can't recall hearing we've swept the seas at any point though.

Decent game, decent result, stunner of a barmaid on slightly tinged by some idiot anti semetically abusing someone on the way out and when challenged offered up "bantz" as an excuse.

As SR says decent game no more chanting than any other game, mind you I was up in the hospitality lounge which was good (paid for) the son-in-law is a Hunslet sponsor and Rhino supporter.

I heard the "swept the seas" song. Sounded good. A couple of voices tried to adapt the "Rhinos,Rhinos Sing us a song" chant to an anti-semitic alternative but were quickly shut down by those around them. Good support from the Hawks. A bit sweary but good-natured on the whole!

I must have missed it. A shame really, my old man is a Hunslet lad, used to go on and on about Parkside etc. Only reason he didn't take us kids down was by that time they were migrating all over the shop in a valiant effort to keep going.
