And exactly how many sports channels do Sky have ?
They could show the football on one, the rugby league on another, the Ashes channel and still have space for something else on the 4th ....

The problem is with advanced pre-booked tickets, there's no chance of selling them on via a secondary market such as Ebay either.
I'm so sick / bored / tired of the endless messing about with fixtures, this decision is about the final straw for me as I waste yet more money on useless travel tickets because of the whim of someone at the RFL and / or Sky.
It is inconvenient enough when they change home games, but I think it is now the time to just stop my away travel full stop. No hassle of trying to get to Warrington away next week, no problems having to get to Salford's new ground and forget the hours waiting for the car park to open after games at Wigan.
For those of you that know me, this is some decision.
I've watched Leeds for the best part of 30 years, just about all of my adult life. There was a period when the total number of games I missed over a 12 year period was about five in total (one league game, a couple of hastily arranged pre-season friendlies and the World Club Challenge games in Australia), but enough is enough.
Times are tough and I can't afford to keep wasting money like this, so as a customer who is being shabbily treated by their current supplier, I am going to exercise my right to take my 'recreation pound' elsewhere. I have spent less time on Southstander this season than perhaps at any time since I joined and frankly, since I have other recreational interests (something that is pretty well scheduled and not affected by the whim of a TV broadcaster) I am going to spend the time that I would have otherwise gone to matches, on my other activities thank-you-very-much. Good luck to the RFL's marketing budget to try to coax me back.
My gut feeling right now even possibly extends to telling the RFL to get lost for World Cup tickets too.
Perhaps a sustained boycott of either all away games or perhaps one fixture, such as London Away, might make people sit up and take notice. I know we as a sport need a tv broadcast contract and I know that a Monday night in London was a shabby choice to start with, but everyone made the sort of noises that the game would be on that night and by getting my backside down to the Capital, I felt that not only was I doing my bit to support my team but also a little for the development of the game in London.
I was going to make a special journey to Leeds tomorrow (I live elsewhere these days) to secure my tickets / travel for most of the rest of the season. I'm not going to bother now, furthermore I'll probably send my Wakefield away match ticket (a game that has already been changed three times since the original date) back.
I'll continue to watch Leeds at home (which even that has diminished as a social occasion with the demolition of the Supporters Club, only to be replaced with the opportunity to stand around on sub zero tarmac fending off hypothermia as an alternative) and have my annual game at the Cup Final. Pretty much anything else is up for negotiation.
The announcement via Twitter, late on a Friday afternoon also smacks of a good time to bury bad news. Anyone remember once-upon-a-time, the likes of the club's esteemed media manager coming on here to answer question ? Ah ! If only those days were available now....
In business terms, if the RFL can afford to cheese off a 'loyal' customer like me, then gawd help retaining the more fickle fans.

If you think that any club, or the RFL hold any sort of "value" to a "loyal" supporter then this is your wake up call, many of us woke up years ago but welcome anyway.
Its not the club's fault, only other than that the CEO of each club ARE the RFL and follow the Sky instructions to the letter as without their money there would be no RFL - and thats it in a nutshell, selling your organisation to another business for such a sum that your are totally reliant on the other organisation for your future operating (period) is always a bad business move but as we all know the RFL had no other option on the table when Mo the Bookie signed the company over to Murdoch and his subsequent colleagues have had no other option at the renewals either.
I haven't had a Sky subscription for several years now and as a result hardly watch any TV sport at all, any sport who sells their soul to a pay-to-watch organisation deserves to limit their appeal to only those who will pay-to-watch and thats exactly what we now see with the RFL with the game of professional rugby league having moved forward not one inch since Mo the Bookies time - and the money all spent too.

A worse decision than anything Sky could come up with.
And as the previous poster says, the game is absolutely stuffed without Sky's money. It's that simple.

| in all seriousness, I was told today that its 10 pound to change per ticket. Then you've also got to pay the difference.
Might still go, or just cut them up if no one wants them.

No, you can't .... Selling train tickets is against Ebay's T & Cs
If you put something on, they remove it pretty much straightaway. I suppose there is logic, say someone buying up all the cheap train tickets the morning they become available for say the FA Cup Final and then touting them on Ebay for a profit as everyone clambers for them later.

| Maybe one for TVOC :
- Record lowest SL crowd any fixture ?
- Record lowest London Vs Leeds crowd ?
If a lot of the fans who have been messed around don't go, you could be looking at something like 1500 there.

| The game is very dependent upon the Sky money and Sky know this. Nothing that can be done about it. However, the relationship is inequitable. Sky don't promote the game enough and don't pay the going rate for the second best viewed sport they show.
The RFL need to press Sky hard for a bigger commitment next time the contract is up and should be speaking to BT sport now.

| I know it's inconvenient and, indeed, poorly managed. But there is an entertaining lack of proportion contained in this thread.
London away gets moved = never going to another game away from Headingley, ever. OK then. See ya
Rugby League, like every other major sport, is reliant on pay TV funding. These relationships are always tangled but they are also essential, like it or not. There has to be give and take though and Sky shouldn't really be moving games which have already effectively been moved once for TV.

Fair enough. The restrictions on train tickets make it difficult for me to choose it over the car.

| As a side issue, Sky are now showing this SL game at exactly the same time as the Championship game on Premier Sports scheduled for that evening. So 2 games of RL on at the same time on different channels.

I'm sure they don't do the same for tickets of the actual events though so there seems a bit of a disconnect there. How annoying

This is not the first time that the London away fixture in particular has been messed about with ... They did something similar a couple of years ago.
As has been pointed out, let's have a bit of a sliding scale .... Catalans games (remember the London fans half way back to the airport, because their game had been rearranged) should pretty much be played on the date they're advertised at. London games, moved at say 10 - 12 weeks notice, inter county games say 4-6 weeks notice and local games say 2 weeks maximum. That way the broadcaster is able to show what they want, when they want and the fans know where they stand in terms of booking something outside those timescales.
It's not just the fact that this game has moved, it's effectively the straw that has broken the camel's back and I have been feeling increasingly disillusioned with aspects of the game for a while.

T'was a great letter and before you ask ... It wasn't me
It appears there's lot of hacked off Loiners with useless train tickets out there ... Personally, I have billed Portly Nigel at RFL HQ and we'll see how that goes.
Let's also consider that it could have easily been the London fans messed about on one of their away trips too... We perhaps need as a sport to sit down and come up with a better / fairer system, one that everyone is aware of and perhaps published / advertised by the RFL.
