Most people don't look at anything other than 'X is good' when it comes to rumoured Aussie signings. If you actually look at signings from the NRL over the past few years, not a single genuine star in their prime has come across to SL. Lyon was probably the only player I can think of that fits that bill, and he did it in order to get to Manly.

Not only is Menzies playing like a 25 year old at the moment he's probably the form second row in the comp. How many Leeds forwards could out run Tom Briscoe to score a 80 metre + try? Its frightening to think how good he was at 25!!!



Was having a similar conversation with a coach on Thursday who said a lot of clubs / coaches over here look at the players they are signing and sign them based on their reputation and form of 2 or 3 years ago. He said only 3 or 4 overseas players this year have stood up to the mark and played to the value they are being paid!!

That would be awesome, however, on this seasons form, how would we cope with all his offloads when we don't have any support runners!

Given he's allegedly already turned down around £220,000 a year from Cronulla and Newcastle are reported to be offering him a similar amount, I can't see how the much vaunted Rhinos "wage structure" is going to have room to fit him under the cap.
