I've just watched the 2007 grand final what a performance. I was as excited watching it again as 13 years ago . Weve had some historic tries in our history and Scott Donald's try that night is up there among them

Fantastic achievement to beat that Saints team. +Sculthorpe the best team in SL era imho

We beat them in both league fixtures that season and were only 1 point behind them on the final league table. It wasn't such a surprise for some of us. The score was, but the result not so much.

Yeah but they'd had the big game hoodoo over us untill that point...

Donald's acceleration as he goes past Wellens is superb. Up through gears, leaving Wellens floundering.

I do have to add that Wellens had many gifts and was a great full back, but pace was not his main weapon.

Wellens is probably the slowest full back of the modern era. He was done for pace by Ali over 70m for crying out loud.

If he came through now, I'm not sure where he'd play.

Had they? I don't think we'd played them in a final since the 1980's? It was Wigan who we couldn't get over in a final. They started to believe their own hype (which was considerable) and I think they showed Leeds too little respect - just like the media. It was even worse the following year, and we out played them again.

They were a good side, but I think they were better a few years earlier. Their battles with Bradford were epic. Is "Joynt's voluntary tackle" still going?

The did hammer us in a couple of cup games in 02 and 04 I think, but they've never beaten is in a final, I don't think.

That threepeat 2007 I was quietly confident after our narrow defeat at Knowsley road .2008 I just hoped for the best ,but didnt think we'd win in the event It was my favourite Leeds GF performance. 2009 I was very confident expected a win

I'm not one for posting vitriolic things but I could say a lot of things about Leon Pryce that would reflect on his cowardly nature and what type of person he really is...But I'd better not
The incident between him and my old schoolmate Eddie McGuiness still makes my blood boil to this day as it was a total act of cowardice
Needless to say that I have zero respect for him

Loving Leeds Bradford from 2008. Fast paced and hard hitting. And Lee Smith's perm.

Half time and we are smashing them to bits. JJB was unstoppable!

Robbie's try in the second half with the 3 sidesteps is just sublime.

The triple wins 2007-09 where all special for me, the first as it was so compressive, do not think I have seen such a complete performance, in a final between two so evenly matched teams by any club, and as others said new we could do them after we battered them in semis, sure we new we had them after that even though we lost.
2008 thought they where arrogant and their fans makeing out that the previous year was a fluke and they and it would not happen again ( think they only finished top on points difference) so satisfying that we won with a bit to spare again, not as dominant but we never really looked like losing.
2009 sweet win and closer real arm wrestle, but even without that controversial try (he was on side never a doubt) they never looked like they could beak us and get down field and score, credit Sean long he said after the game it did not matter as they still had to get up the other end and score and they had nothing left.

The 2007 was a good watch. We were rather drunk at the match so my memory is a bit blurred. I'd forgotten the wonder pass from Donald for JJB's try and the scandalous 'benefit of the doubt' try awarded to Webb. I do remember that for the game stealing penalty I shouted offside immediately. We were so happy (drunk) we had no idea that our final try was so dodgy. It was only when we were on the train back to Bridgend that a mate phoned us to let us know.

I still don't get why people view that last try as that contentious; where is the ball in relation to the trailing leg of the Leeds player (not his body)? It's relatively clear cut, certainly at very least benefit of doubt which was the ruling back then.
