Went to bed just after Hussey went and it started raining, couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Fantastic day for England, and when we look back lets hope we can identify this as the day we won the ashes. Still lots of good work to do, but it's the best start we could have hoped for. Now need to bat for 2 days and hit 600 and get them back in so we can really attack them for a long period.

It's a good job they don't issue cards in Cricket mate, of he would have been off. Bumble made the point for me when he said "even when an umpire is wrong he's right" and "it's completely against the spirit of the game".
Ponting is a desparate man, clutching at straws. He's made next to no runs in the series and will be the first man to lose three Ashes series in over 100 years. That's quite some epitaph...

He's the pantomime villain, but it was footballeresque.
I understand there is probably the match, the ashes, his captaincy and his international career hanging by a thread, but he was bang out of order, I can only assume his mood only darkened with the trott run out and prior being out off a no ball

I get about 20 new hits a week from australian addresses on that blog site well over a year after I wrote that post, someone is linking to it somewhere but none of those hits have left a comment yet, I'm assuming they all agree with me  |

I think you should just gradually crank up the baiting McF - flush them out, someone sent me a nice preview of the ashes the other day, i was (superstitiously) keeping my powder dry, but we can't blow it from here (blame me if we do)

Great performance all round, even Collingwood snaffled some good catches in the series to make up for his absence of runs. Great to knock them over in their backyard, now let's finish the job properly and win the last test in Sydney.

I think Clarke has got it by default by being the 'heir to the throne', he's a walking wicket at the moment and there's some added pressure piled on top, Haddin will assist him I assume. |
