Didn't a similar thing happen to us about 7-8 years go when Sparky scored a goal for Southampton and it came straight back out and the ref didn't give it? Can't remember them acting like Palace are now!

I seem to remember that they didn't really even try to claim it. I'm not sure many people were certain it was in. the nets at the dell were barely a balls width deep, so it would be easier for the eye to be fooled.

Couple of years ago Orient scored what should have been a winner in front of the Southstand when Casper did a bit of a Gary Sprake and the whole ball clearly went beyond the line, but the ref and linesmen didn't see it.

That's how I remember it too. Hughes hit the shot with his usual venom but on this occasion it was too hard for his own good...it was too fast for anyone to see except on the TV replays.
I'm pretty sure the ball hit the advertising boards because the Dell had no gap between them and the (very shallow) net. |

Still everything turned out great that night as it was straight to Old Trafford and hammering St Helens. |

| Didn't Michael Bridges score all 3 in that game, in the season when he scored loads for us? Major shame he copped such a nasty injury, he was a cracking player that year, and a nice bloke as well. Also, if I remember rightly, before that match we announced we'd signed Darren Huckerby for about 5 million?? I remember being really chuffed we'd signed him, as I really rated him. Didn't quite work out that one did it?  |
