| Quote ="mattsrhinos1978"What an absolute mess we'v got ourselves in. Too many jobs given to too many people for all the wrong reasons.
Leeds 'DNA'
Jobs for the boys
'Spirit of the Rhinos' manufactured bulls**t
It all needs to stop, the way out of this mess is simple, yet we'v done everything but for years...We need to Hire the best possible people for each specific role, with CV's deeper than just... played for the club or part of the family. That dosnt necessarily need to be a CV at the very highest level of winning trophys, just that theres a clear history of performing well in that role and overseeing impressive results in that role in the past...Watson at Salford, Smith at Huddersfield spring to mind as people getting more out of a group of players than the sum of there parts.
At the risk of sounding repetitive, our u16's coach is the only coach in our whole system with a track record of success and a reputation as one of the best in the country at what he does, thats bloody shambolic for a club our size.
Agar needs to go - think he knows that himself, grew to like him, but his times up. Think the depleted squads actually benefited him in the past, with a fullish squad at his disposal, his limitations have been exposed, some lf his decision making has been infuriating.
Long needs to go - Attack is comically bad, criminal that we actually pay him a wage for what we serve up with the ball.
JJB Needs to go - Defence not much better than attack, too much nostalgia, not enough ability.
Walker needs to go - Absolutely useless imo, our players look better at 16 than they do at 18, intakes that hammer everyone at scholorship, struggle regularly once they get to the Academy and Walker.'"

| Quote ="batleyrhino"Thinking about the way forwards, I think GH and Agar together should announce that Agar will become DOR at the end of this season, and confirm we are formally starting the process of recruiting a new Head Coach for next season. This will take the sting out of the situation, removing the constant calls for Agar to go because we know he will, and the players should be told that they are all playing for their roles under the new coach or a new contract if out of contract like Austin for example.
Then we can invite applicants, and if the right person becomes available before the end of the season then they can start early. In any case we should know who will be Head Coach next year before the end of this season, and the recruitment can be planned with them as part of the decision making group.'"
Thing is a big part of DOR will be recruitment and retention. I am just not convinced Agar scores that well in this area, in particular recent calls.
Donaldson - 2 year extension
Briscoe - retained a further year
Thompson - 2 year contract
Austin - was let go by wire
Sezer - hudds didn’t seem overly keen to keep him
Tetevano - marquee money for a prop who isn’t in the top 5 performing props in the competition
For me it is a massive summer and off season, we have players off contact and others we need to be talking to about leaving early if they are agreeable.
Briscoe - gone
Austin - gone
Sezer - if agreeable gone
Martin - gone
Mellor - gone
Dwyer - gone
Tetevano - if agreeable gone
Prior - I think he will retire and I have no issue with that given his age and what we need from our props
Donaldson - if agreeable gone
Mustapha - gone
Thompson - gone
Does Agar from his previous conduct with some of those players have the ability to make those decisions and be in charge of that element of the club. For me he doesn’t, he hasn’t shown any real ability to select the right players or characters.

| Shane Flanagan anybody if he would take it,although sounds keen to stay in the NRL.
Probably even tougher on the players than Furner so would upset the comfort zone and could prove another disaster.
Would we want someone with a tainted history in the sport as well.
The assistant coach at Penrith is getting good reports and appears to be wanted by Wayne Bennett as his assistant at the new NRL club the Dolphins.
Sounds like he could turn out to be another Justin Holbrook, but again would he be tempted.

Exactly, just utter fluff piece rubbish, everyones now just a couple of items shy and yet again at the bottom of the league.
A better idea would of been to not burn anything, but maybe, assemble a squad with 6 actual props in it,instead of a load of undersized 'middles' or something like, devise a gameplan more sophisticated than throwing Dwyer on and hoping for the best.

There would be some initial pain with Flanagan I think but the benefits would come given 2 years. Let’s be honest it can’t be much worse with or without the ball.
We been pretty poor since the GF win in 2015.
Furner was in charge for 11 games. He won 4 of his last 7 games and took over a team that finished losing 2 games out of 7 in the 2018 scrubbers scramble.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying he was a stunning success but he had naff all to work with. Crosby and Ablett played no games all year, JJB was awful. Ferres was too and Stevie Ward played 5 games all year plus Cuthbo was on last legs. He had Peteru and singo with Merrin.
Board / Dor would need to properly back Flanagan to go through the pain and come out the other side.
I should add I can’t see Flanagan coming. We are not advertising for a cleaner at a council leisure centre. We should be identifying who we want and going after them.
Any Aussie would need a lot of reassurance to come now because I’m sure they would talk to Furner....

What reassurances can we give? Think we need a young British coach. Think we missed a trick with Watson. Don’t think any decent Ozzie coach will touch us with a barge pole after the Furner saga…..

I wouldn't read that much into it. All Pro coaches know the likely outcome when performances and results aren't up to scratch. Any worth their salt would back themselves to do rather better.

Generally I agree but to travel to the other side of the world and with associated family impact to consider, any good coach is going to want assurances they’ll get More than 11 games to fix things up.
On a more positive note , Levi Edwards made a good try for York today.

Did well at south’s, then had the poisoned chalice of Brisbane Broncos.

Too early to write off Austin and Sezer. They’re not playing for their coach imo. Same for Tetevano

Heard a tale we were in contact with him before he got a much bigger offer of coin from England.

| I understand the love for Sir Kev but those wanting him back need to remember most of the signings including Thompson, Briscoe and Sutcliffe were his or am I mistaken?
He also pushed for Agar to take over .
Lets move away from the old boys brigade and get some fresh blood in the club.
Walker, JJB and don`t we also have McDermott, Peacock, Bailey and Delaney hanging around?
Great servants and legends but we need a clean sweep imo.

| It's all very well getting rid - and I'm not suggesting he doesn't need to go - but a perm any one from Long/JJB/Walker interim replacement wouldn't be any better, at least not from what we've shown so far. We're in a right hole, make no mistake.

Suppose the idea is get rid now, hopefully get a response from the players for game this weekend and maybe get a win, look for performance against Saints and accept a win is unlikely. Then week off for CC round assuming we don’t beat Cas. Thats 3 weeks to get someone in and reset for rest of season. Better to sacrifice next 2-3 games cup and league than soldier on with Agar which as things stand looks like a relegation dog, fight, and with a potential 10 team Super league next season we need to be in the top 8-9

I don’t like the sound of a 10 team SL. This feels like an ideal season to scrap any relegation and go for a 14 team SL next year.

I know that you know that, most people know that and want 14 team hone away schedule. Apparently the RFL want sone convoluted 2x10 super league 1&2 with SL 1 playing home away then playing league 2 half hone half away, we thats the rumoured structure anyway.
