where i have been working near taddy its not got above -6 all day. bitterly cold.

My journey home from Birmingham went something like this...

Arrived New St Station at 1145 for the 1203 to Leeds

Surprisingly the Cross Country Edinburgh service was already in so I got on it, it was quite full and all the seats including my reserved one were taken so just stood near the door with some other people.

Train sets off and Train Manager announces that this is the delayed 1103 service, bollax, I'm on the wrong train and my ticket doesn't allow transfers.

Train Manager checks my ticket but lets me off a penalty - HUZZAH ! result !

Train breaks down in Derby, 300 people get off and wait for the 1203 Edinburgh service (the one I should have been on, the one with my reserved seat on)

20 mins later the 1203 arrives, already full, 300 people try and get on it, no chance, it looks like an Indian train in there and if they had ladders then people would be sat on the roof, I and about 50 other people decide to wait for the 1303 Edinburgh service to come.

Sit on a freezing metal chair on a freezing platform in Derby for 70 mins until train arrives, its also full

Squeeze on and stand at the door with my nose squashed up against the glass, I stay there all the way to Leeds

Get a ticket to Horsforth and board Nthn Rail train, wonder of wonders I get a seat

Train driver tells us all his train is fooked and we've all to get onto a much smaller one on the next platform

Mad stampede to get on alternative train, I kill several people to get on and stand in aisle, many don't make it.

Arrive home at 1730, I don't know why they bother putting seats in trains.

you could start a job as a life coach with advise like this

but did the buffet trolley arrive with afternoon tea ???

She tried valiantly to get the trolley out but then announced "If you want cake, make your way to Carriage A where I'm stuck", we could have had a cake party in Carriage A.

Snowing again

Here in Durham it snowed from about 6am til lunch without settling much. Blown through now though, sun is shining. Assuming you're getting what we've already had, there'll be feck all.

Your right its stopped for now, was quite heavy at one point but its not layed

So far, wait till tomorrow when the cold really kicks in.

It's kicking in here now. +3 this morning, zero by lunch, minus 4 and dropping now, very icy.

Aye scandlous drop in temp. Had +6 this morning.

I think Paul might have something to add to this thread at some stage

mostly made of tarmac

I wouldn't use "mostly" given the roads I've seen recently. It's about 50/50 between tarmac and lack-of-tarmac.
