Given the season ticket sales thus far for 2011, there might be the prospect of a few four figure attendances against the likes of Quins, Crusaders, Salford and Catalans.'"
Good point. Would be a sad occurance if thats the case. Sure there's still plenty of cash rolling in from other source though

25th July 2003 V London Broncos (8,231)
Since then Leeds have racked up 98 consecutive 10K + attendances in the SL Regular Rounds at Headingley.

Thanks TVOC.
I'd an idea it was a while ago.
Season ticket sales are crucial to maintaining that record, as is Leeds form. I think they'll just get away with keeping up that record in 2011 as they play Quins, Salford, Crusaders and Catalans at home early doors. Quins first up followed by Salford. Enthusiasm and believism among fans won't be adversely affected that early.
Crusaders at home would have been a four figure possibility but Leeds should get away with it given the Bank Holiday Monday scheduling of that fixture.

| Getting to 100 consecutive league gates in excess of would a great achievement.
I wonder when was the last time that was achieved by any RL team?
When I started to attend HQ on a regular basis any crowd over 10K was exceptional.
How things have changed for the better.
I do suspect that our crowds will be in negative correlation to those at Elland Rd, particularly in such poor economic times as now when disposable income is under more pressure.

Possibly because few of us read the YEP, since it's Leeds' (evening) paper, same way few of you guys are likley to read the T&A.
But more to the point, because (apart from Geldhill, obviously) few of us are much interested in [ischadenfreude[/i, recognising sorting our own issues out is a load more relevant than gloating about the possible loss by Leeds of some glory supporters.
There is indeed a short thread on RAB about this, started by Gledhill. But pretty well no real bites, and to be honest what adverse comment there is has been largely stirred up by your own Billy Rhino wading in with his size 13 troll boots.

| Quote ="pokerface"For all the wannabe accountants out there.....Lets say we don't match last seasons ticket sales by the time the first game at Headingly is played (which im sure wont be as a high as the current figure by then but for the sake of arguement we'll say it will), averaged out is approx. Ā£253k but of those who decide not to but a season ticket this term due to whatever reason, they choose to 'cherry pick' therer games this year. Lets say they all pick 10 games each over the course of the season (so that means another average) and with match day price thats approx. Ā£273k (so already +Ā£20k). Merchandising (again for the sake of arguement) is affected by 25% approx. -Ā£7.5k. Spend on the day is affected by 50% again approx. so -Ā£85k.
So in total that is Ā£77.5k down on last season not the Ā£250k - Ā£400k everyone likes to think.
I don't think we'll be a million miles off last season sales by the time we play our first home match.'"
I'd also suggest that id Hetherington says "We are expecting a last-minute rush" he's not just saying it for the sake of the armchair accountants on here - He'll know the month by month breakdown from previous years and know that a proportion of people always leave it late.
Also I read somewhere else that Hetherington said that season ticket sales were slightly down but corporate sales were up (sorry can't find the article now) - so all the wigan fans etc can probably stop worrying - I'm sure we'll continue to be a club run on a sound financial footing for the foreseeable future

I don't know the answer to that but in the SL Era it has never been achieved.
There would only be four teams in with a shout in Bradford, Hull, Leeds and Wigan.
Bradford's best sequence was 56 between 14th September 2002 and 18th August 2006
The other three's best runs are their current ones
98 - Leeds - 8th August 2003 to date
69 - Wigan - 5th August 2005 to date
55 - Hull - 4th August 2006 to date

Applying its literal translation, I'm not sure there's much "shameful" about Leeds season ticket sales for 2011 that the average Bulls fan can take "joy" in either.
Don't have the figures to hand, but how do the two clubs stack up in terms of season ticket revenue, assuming an "average" season ticket price and known sales to date?

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you Adey.
I didn't think you were "having a go", just pointing out that the reason there's little interest in gloating from the Bulls supporters may be because the Leeds figures aren't actually that bad put in the context of the current economic climate.
Hence the follow-up question about whether X amount of discounted season tickets will actually realise more revenue for the Bulls than Y amount of full price ones at Leeds - although I appreciate there are unquantifiable benefits such as matchday spend (assuming each ST holder actually turns up to every game).

| Would you not concede that the big rise in attendances at Leeds Rhinos was in a large part due to the sharp decline of Leeds United about the same period.
And could the reverse happen if Leeds United return to the Premiership?

Nope - next.
I'd had say it had a hell of a lot more to do with the product on the field improving, the club becoming more successful as a result and increasing its profile in that way than fans deserting Leeds United and deciding they would go watch the rugby instead.

Do people use the same argument about Wigan Athletic ?
Given that they are a Premiership club does that mean that Wigan RL should really have 25K crowds but lots of them go to the football instead ?

No, because in general the Wigan football fans watch Athletic and not Wigan Rugby League, and vice versa, which is why you don't see a 91 page Wigan Athletic thread on the Wigan RL messageboard.

HTH.
Wigan Rugbys gates have actually increased since Wigan Athletic came in to the Premiership.

| and Leeds were the best attended club in SL when Leeds Utd were in the Semi-Finals of the champions league.
There is 700'000 people in the City of Leeds (not to mention the circa 3m in the city region) it would be very surprising if Leeds Utd and Leeds Rhinos were fighting over less than 10 percent of that figure who would need to be the only people who regularly attend sport in the city.

But Leeds gates where static around that period, and the dramatic increase came around 2004 when Leeds United got relegated.

2004 was also the season Leeds won their first championship in 32 years, as well as being the season LUFC left the premiership.
Glass half full - Rhinos success brought fans to the club
Glass half empty - People started coming because LUFC were in a lower division.
The truth? Probably somewhere in the middle.
