| Quote ="finglas"The RFL has bottled fines for breaches of the salary cap.
'"
I agree they have a way to go re quotas but that is a seperate issue to the salary cap. All I'll say there is that they got off to a bad start but the rules will eventually produce the mix within the squads they are looking for. Not even young Stanley can play forever.
The rules are the rules and the law is the law. The RFL have successfully fined and deducted points in accordance with the rules. It's fair to say soom poorly drafted rules have been challenged but I trust those rules have been re-drafted and adopted. The salary cap is (for me) now a comparitive non issue outside of the current (on-going) image rights re-classification.

I can see the quality players that you're looking to sign queuing up for a slice of that, especially if they have to travel halfway round the world for it. Get real.
'" im sure we could have got say Adam Mcdougal for a year on a decent contract, id certainly be surprised if he is currently on close to what we offered Soliola, newcastle seem to be packed with 3/4ers as well

What has made you think Smith could be a better winger than Donald? In the 50+ games he's played there he's played well most of the time but has never reached the heights Donald has.

Different "type" to donald, scotty does the buisness yes he's been off colour but show me a winger who wouldn't with so many change's in centre partner.

I think he should make a good centre. He has decent feet, and I beleive he can attract a defender, and ship the ball out. I'm not sure I agree with the argument that he's too small either

In my younger days I would regularly call for the entire team to be changed every year (and funnily enough my prayers were usually answered). But we were rubbish then and desperate (possibly becuase we changed all our players every year). I'm older and heavier now and realise the folly of "lucky dip" squad management.
However, I don't see how those two scenarios above are mutually exclusive? Surely "a few alterations" could mean signing a player or two from "without"?

It's his lack of pace that I am concerned about. You don't need to be a giant, but you do need some gas if you're not to be a good centre. I saw some old footage fo Senior a while back and you soon forget how explosively quick he was even just a couple of years ago. If you can't go over the guy infront you've got to be able to at least get past him to release your winger.
