He id'd me, I gave him my id, he said it was out of date, I said what difference does it make it's quite clearly me, he served me but said after 1 I would have to leave because of my out of date id, I had about 3 more pints after from the same bloke.

True story

I'm struggling to see how an ID can be out of date, surely you are who you are?
The only matter of concern here is your date of birth.
Regardless of any other changes, name, nationality, status etc your dob is the one immutable fact about you.
Ah well , it must just be me.

I once went to France with my brother and his passport had gone past its expiry date, we got on the ferry anyway determined to use the same argument if challenged - you are who you are, someone checked that data to issue you it in the first place and your date of birth won't have changed since it was issued, its only the expiry date of the document that has changed and the only reason that changes is so they can scam you for the cost of replacing it.

We passed through four passport controls and none of them spotted it

Exactly my thoughts, I use an old passport so if I lose it I wouldn't have to buy another. I just said to the bloke you can clearly see its me and it's the only id I have because I don't drive.

On a point of semantics I doubt that a passport is an ID, strange though that may seem.

I seem to recall that as true although many bars will accept it as proof of age, the new microchipped passports are as close to absolute proof of ID though, but it does beg the question, if someone is not prepared to accept a government issued document as proof that at least once in your life a government representative has checked and accepted that you are who you say you are - then what are you going to do to prove that ?

I got in late last night and saw a pizza box on the side opened it and ate a slice, no idea how long it had been there, it even tasted like sh-t when I was pished. F-ck knows what it tasted like when sober.

When food tastes bad when you are spannered you know it's bad!

I came in pished last night and according to er indoors (LOVE saying that) I grabbed the butter and sat next to her on the sofa eating butter using my fingers to scoop the butter out of the little tub whilst almost crying whilst telling her how much I love her and how devotated to her I am and then instantly fell asleep.
