It is in Otley yeah, it's a cake shop that also does Wedding Cakes (meaning, it's not specifically a Wedding Cake Shop!) so you can just go in and buy cake if you wanted it.

It just so happens I have organised into my day tomorrow a trip to otley! I need some details of where to go.

To be fair, I think the majority of the "over the counter" stuff is more chocolate than cake. You've to ask/order the more hardcore stuff. They can't just hand cake like that out over the counter to anybody that just walks in. I'm sure you understand.

My least favourite has to be that coffee cake stuff.

I've never trusted myself to go into that shop as one of two things will happen...

1. I will buy all of their stock on display and my credit card will decline
2. I will be arrested for throwing myself into their chocolate melting machine and wallowing around in it like a hot tub

I'm the one who was once asked by a member of staff to go and sit down and let the kids have a go in a Pizza Express in Newcastle that had a Mr Whippy ice cream machine with a chocolate fountain next to it.

You can probably get free cake when they put on free food at homeless shelters anyhow. However I’d have to say that my favourite cake is lemon cake from ASDA. Not too bad that one!

I was thinking we should get rid of all the burger stall and stuff and just have cake stall instead - anyone for a Keith Senior tart? They could even do specials for the visiting team like a ginger version of lardy cake for Saints or Spotted Dick (yes I know it's a pudding) for Wigan.

My niece (aged 6), just ran into my office saying she'd brought me "a really big cake for being a good uncle." Then shouted "April Fool!".

Apparently, she really wanted to trick someone (she's at that age now!) so my sister came up with something "harmless".

Harmless she says. Harmless. Since when has the promise of cake, without delivery of said cake been harmless?

You could laugh off a shout of "FIRE! FIRE!" even if there was a real fire, but "CAKE! CAKE!" is just cruel, I'd be ringing social services if I were you, her parents have something to answer for.

Our monthly service dept visit to Big Wok in Birmingham (all you can eat for £10, its a challenge not an invitation) was interrupted one evening last year when we noticed the chocolate fountain was missing.

The Mr Whippy ice cream machine was still there and the slices of various cakes still there - but NO CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN



I asked the waiter where it was, "Health and safety" was all he said, "I'll risk it" I said, "Wheel it back out here" but no, they wouldn't do it, Health and Safety had banned them from using a chocolate fountain.

Or maybe it was the fact that we nearly emptied it when we were in there the month before.

Health and safety?! What do they think is going to happen? The fountain might grow teeth and bite the hand off the poor unsuspecting person? It might grow legs and chase you round the restaurant?

I'm qualified in H&S (not through choice, I thought it was easier than paying somebody having 100 staff!), and I can tell you that officially, and by officially I mean this is the actual and official officially official wording on all official Health & Safety officially official documents...
