FWIW I thought you lost because you lost a few players and it took its toll plus we were better defensively in the 2nd half, you know the secnd half where you got 4 penalties in a row on our line and we ended up scoring, that is not the refs fault

That was what 3/4 minutes from the end when the game was dead? It what point did I mention that being anything to do with the ref? It was the 20 minutes at the start of the half where he handed you multiple.repeat sets near out tryline that killed the game.

There was more than 10 minutes left when you got those penalties

Yes we got multiple sets, but we took our chances you didn’t that is not the refs fault so yes own that bitterness

And we were completely f*cked due to 20 minutes constant defending prior to that which no doubt had an affect on our ability to test your defence late on (added to a number of injuries). It happens all the time with SL refs.... even the penalty count up late on in order to look like both teams were treated equally when effectively the game was dead and buried by the 65 minute mark.

Decent win in awful conditions. Pretty poor 1st half but got job done in 2nd. Defended well in fairness.

Myler and Cuthbo introduction seemed to spark us quite a bit. Newman good again.

No realistically we won’t as we’re rebuilding. But once we hit the top five we’ll be there for next Ten years. You on the other hand forget it. Blame the Ref swear and shout homophobic abuse at him and that really helps.

Watsons moaning about the ref now, I always think when coaches moan about the ref they just look like they are trying to deflect

I was happy with the performance as a whole. They might not be the same team they were last season but they still reached the grand final, so beating them and keeping them scoreless for 40 minutes in them conditions is big wraps for us. Gale, Myler, Cuthbertson superb. Newman going from strength to strength.

Hopefully Handley shakes off whatever happened with him.

The Ref was whistle happy & inconsistent for both Teams.
The 1st half was a mistake & penalty riddled grind which imo Salford deserved to lead at HT.
However 2nd half we took control thst was down to our better ruck speed (Myler at 9) & taking our chances.
Salford fans & Watson can whinge chelp & blame the Ref all they want they got plenty of "iffy" calls & Gale was taken off the ball at least twice without getting a penalty.
There were also numerous ball steals given as knock ons & vice versa.
We got what we deserved & imo Newman was our M.O.M closely followed by Prior & Ava.
Going forward we still lack size in the middle imo & apart from the break for Gales try id drop Dwyer to the bench Myler gives us much better control at the ptb & he listens to Gale when plays are there.
It was'nt great by any stretch but we adapted & got the 2pts.

Watson also mentioned they were at fault for Walker’s try, when in his words they were ‘still in the game’ but after all his ranting about the ref failed to mentioned the 4 penalties in a row to Salford, he comes across as a bit of a sore loser in that presser and when we are struggling to attract refs I don’t think a head coach calling them out in a press conference helps, at all.

What was Lui like?

Like most of the team, poor in the first half OK in the second

I think the big ‘take away’ from this game is our ability to win when we’ve played poor and also the team spirit looks far better than it has been for a few years

The conditions spoiled the game for both sides. Rhinos played better in 2nd half and deserved the win. Newman getting better every game. Plenty of team spirit and well managed by Luke Gale. Warrington will be a good bench mark.
