Id have him over sutcliffe or briscoe every day of the week im certainly not writing him off at all.
I know you like Hurrell but he did absolutely nothing other than score that easy try, hell be out of that saints first team as doon as they have players back.

He probably is playing injured, as weve no choice, he’s quality playing in a side lacking confidence and quality

Which of our players bar Newman could have scored the try Hurrell scored that easily?

Everyone of them the defence was that poor, you may not really have got the best perspective if you listened on the radio, it really wasn’t anything remotely special at all

| Agree with much that has been said regarding the massive improvement in effort. The players put a shift in tonight and competed for much of the game without ever looking like they would win it. They deserve credit for that.
The lack of threat with the ball has been a problem all season and tonight was no different. Saints' line speed was as quick as I've seen, but a few well placed chip overs for Tindall to chase in that 1st half would have made them think twice about moving up so quick. It was disappointing that neither halfback at least saw the opportunity and asked a few more questions. We really are clueless in attack. With Dwyer back for the Huddersfield game I would put Leeming at halfback. We are going to be back to the same position as we were in last season, asking players to fill in at halfback, which is criminal after signing 2 new halfbacks on a sizeable part of the Salary cap.

I’ve seen the try on highlights. Nothing special and looked really easy. However, good players make things look easy……

| A few thoughts. We at least tried in defence, and that should be the easiest thing to sort out. We still have poor technique but the effort and communication in defence seems to have improved from last week.
We are desperately poor with the ball, have no shape and as we don’t go forward quickly enough the lack of shape means the halves always look poor. Sutcliffe again proved he’s not a half, or even a rugby league player?
The kids, Broadbent, Tindall, Gannon and I’d still include Walker because of the time he’s missed, will make mistakes but need to play to learn. We have to persevere with them, the likes of Briscoe and Sutcliffe aren’t going to get us out of this.
We need a new Head Coach urgently, someone has got to put some structure into the play and work on individual skill levels and decision making.

| Agree re the kids. There's zero point playing Briscoe and Sutcliffe. They're terrible players who will not get better. Broadbent and Tindall may not be ready yet but at least they will get better. They may never be that good, but can they realistically be any worse than some of the older players who have had years to work on their game and yet don't know how to pass or position in defence? Its really coming back to bite us that Agar never gave enough chances to some of these lads, preferring instead to shuffle the same losers into different positions.

Fair play. I’m not saying it was special , but I don’t see our centres scoring that try. If you compare the two back lines on paper it looks like a professional vs an Amateur side….

Hurrell wouldnt have scored that try for us either because the opposition defence wouldn’t have been as bad.
I wanted Hurrell to stay by the way! But he’s only in that saints side because of injuries that’s how far behind them we are.

That’s a scarey thought. He’d walk back into our team. I honestly wouldn’t have minded him leaving, if we were a bit more ambitious than sticking Sutty or Briscoe at left centre. I just can’t fathom how anyone could have thought that a good option…..

I actually thought Sutcliffe would be better in a settled position i was clearly wrong.
Briscoe is not and never will be a centre

| It’s really time the club made it clear to them both that when we have any other fit players they will not make the team. I know tonight wasn’t his best game but Broadbent must play each week until Newman is back, and then we see how he’s gone. The kid will only learn from playing, he will make mistakes but will not be any worse than Briscoe or Sutcliffe, who really shouldn’t be at Leeds.

| Pretty sure most people on here are clueless, we had excellent field position (through luck) and excellent attacking structure. We lacked composure and confidence to throw the right ball at the right time.
Prime example was just before half time, we set up for a play down the right, Donaldson first receiver doesn't even look down the line and cuts back in. Walker, Sutcliffe and Austin all screaming at him but he wins a penalty so it's forgotten.
Another example was the half break Briscoe made just before half time and we caught them on the back foot. What did we do with it? We ran a prop straight into the ruck and lost all of our momentum immediately.
We ran one great play all night and we were pulled for obstruction because the player didn't commit to his line.
The structure and the setup is there - no one in the team has the confidence or urgency needed to execute. If you're blaming Sutcliffe then you are deluded.

| You are the landlord of the dog n duck n ur setting up a rugby team. JJB walks in offering to coach it.....would u let him?
"We didnt score anywhere near enough points"
"Ive been involved in sport since I was 4 years old"
"I love Sutty in the halves hes really silky there"
"Great leaders create leaders but bad leaders create followers but great leaders can also be followers"
This isnt happening. The club are going to tell us its all a wind up soon surely arent they?
Its like a sketch show comedy character. Its all a spoof it must be!
Will somebody please tell me im having a nightmare and none of this is real......PLEASE!

| Dunno where there is to go with that backline tbh.
I don't disagree with the general take on briscoe and Sutcliffe but at the same time Broadbent's simply too far off to be merely handed a starting spot week in week out. Walker's an elusive runner, nothing more. Dodging down the short side on the fourth or fifth might momentarily take opponents by surprise but it really doesn't make for a good end of set. Then again, that doesn't seem a concern for anyone, especially the coaches. Austin seems to be an instinctive player. Unfortunately those instincts tend towards very low percentage plays far too often. I'd say he'd do better just playing to put the ball into the hands of the strike players...but the problem there is obvious. The wingers don't matter. Maybe we'll bag an interception or two before the season ends?
The Myler and Newman injuries are a real ball ache. They'd be the two I'd be keenest to avoid getting hurt. Perm any other two of our other hacks being out instead and problems are halved.
But we are f***ed with those we're stuck with.
