Important point. Wakefield played very well. When full strength they have some excellent players and once they siezed the initiative they made it pay. It just wasn't there for Leeds tonight and sometimes that's the way it is. They were clearly fatigued after playing a hard emotionally draining game on Monday. Wakey only had an extra day to prepare but their game against KR was far less demanding. I'll give Leeds a pass, they never stopped trying, and the Wembley win should put them in credit with even the most fickle fans. Again, we'll played Wakefield.

The thing is that the guys are clearly tired. However, if fatigue is an issue, and it clearly is, then why didn't we throw more kids in tonight? The club must be able to tell who is not going to be up to it, and who isn't in terms of fatigue The kids team hasn't embarrassed itself.

Will say it again, we did brilliantly to jag the CC this year, but we are not a top side again yet. Upper mid at best.

I’m not too bothered about the remainder of this season for us. I know next year we’ll be better again. Whether we break into the top four properly will depend on one or two new signings.

This loss has been coming, it isn’t the end of the world.

Wakey deserved the win, that is sure, but ripping into the team for one loss is pathetic, you can’t count the losses to Catalan saints and warrington as they were essentially reserve sides

I agree were not a top side just yet, but then again I didn’t expect us to be this year the CC win was just a bit of a bonus and a very enjoyable one, even if we were “pathetic “ when we won.

Some people see it as the end of the world though, a tired and fatigued team lose against a fired up team, in the best form of their season. You can win the first trophy for 3 years but some people will always moan

The performance was uninspired and laboured. Most of the team looked flat, and that could be both mentally and physically. I'm not getting carried away with anything this season. Life is tough, I'm sure life is tough for the players and that must take an effect. Wakey were the better team and the better team should win, so no complaints there. Rather than have this first 13 and second 13, I'd prefer to see the teams mixed up now. Get some youth in for energy and enthusiasm alongside some experience. But like I said, I'm not going to lose any sleep over this. I personally am just glad to have something to watch right now

You see the thing is, did you go on about the Leeds players when we won the CCSF?

See the thing is I'm not focused primarily on wins but performances and monday after 8 days rest was just as poor. Ava though has come out with huge credit after starting poorly after lockdown. Similarly the result v saints after lockdown wasn't where that run started it was with the huddersfield performance.

The one performance that stands head and shoulders above any other this year was the semi, I hope they can build towards that level more consistently.

I said before this season started I thought we would lose more than we won but there would be massive improvement from the last few years - which IMO there has.

Look at this strange season as a whole, we were battered by Hull (leading some on here to proclaim we wouldn’t win the next 5 games) we then pocked up, put in some great performances, Covid hit and we really didn’t come out of it looking good - however we picked up again and won the CC, we have since dipped in form, depends on what happens with the format but we could well pick up some form and some decent wins again.

There has been some massive positives to take from this season whatever happens.

Seriously, at the beginning of the season if someone told you we would win the cc and finish 5th, after the last couple of years, would you have been happy with that? You definitely sound like a glass half empty kind of person

To be fair to Seth I don’t think he is, he does give credit when its due and is fairly even handed with criticism.

Yes Monday was a poor performance, but we still won, says a lot about the team when they can still pick up the win after playing so poor

I'm not sure where you've got this bee in your bonnet from me saying 'my conscience is clear in that respect' on a post by someone I've a lot of respect for. See you ask me that question and I can answer honestly, yes they've made huge strides forward and the stable foundations are a good place to build from very happy with the bonus cc too but challenging performances and being happier with the progression are positions it's possible to hold together.

Fortunately for me I've coached and watched the game for long enough to know that sustained development comes from performances first and foremost.

I think most of us would have snapped a hand off for the CC this year and a respectable table position.

Can Smith has been in and out of form since his injury but he’s so much more physical than he was, I’m looking forward to seeing the 2021 version.

Lots of real positives from this year, the Leeds star is rising again and that’s a much happier place to be.

The top brass need to try to add some quality to the side now if we’re to step up again.

Let's balance that with the 60 minutes they were playing against 12 men. Yes there was some desire needed but listen to Agars comments on how he felt they performed. Regardless of the win (and fatigue) tonight was very much closely related to mondays performance.

Take it for what it is, a tired team having a dip in form, historically following a cc win, most teams have gone through exactly the same dip, Leeds did in 2015 but still managed to finish off the treble!
Mark my words, they win learn from that loss and improve, whether they can do that quick enough for Sunday is another matter

Like I’ve already said, yes the performance was poor, I’m not disputing that, but we still won. The congested fixtures make it more difficult to improve from a poor outing, then add in the covid issues and it becomes an uphill battle

I said at the time i was really disappointed/annoyed at Mondays performance, even with the win I think we got suckered in to a scrap which took a lot out of us to back up again 3 days later, In hindsight I think we should have played the ‘second’ side tonight, it leaves us a bit of a quandry for Sunday, do you let the players roght the wrong of tonight? I feel we’ll lose both against Wakefield now whoch will be disappointing indeed.

Seth, do you think its fair to judge performances at the moment when the coaching staff has very little time to prepare the team?

I know you will mention the team had 8 days prep for the cas game but the coachong staff had to prepare a team for the Saints game a few days before the Cas game.

For me, effort is all we can expect at the moment and all we can judge the team on.

I saw plenty of effort in both games v Cas and Wakey.

And add in the fact we had 4 players stood down the day before, it’s not about excuses it’s about looking at it pragmatically

There was a lot of effort in that second half and it wasn’t lack of effort against Cas that annoyed me it was lack of composure more than anything
