| Unless the 350k a year 10 year contract is BS. Why would he risk his financial and physical long term future?

Could end up with egg on my face here but I don't believe there is anyway Burgess will get back on a rugby field at any kind of decent level.
The docs opinions I have seen all say his shoulder is totally flucked. That doesn't get fixed by a few months off.
Frankly I don't get the facination with him either. Great player but busted. Suspect Souths would have something to say of he popped up in a Leeds shirt as well.

| Souths have their salary cap dispensation, I can’t see them bothered about Burgess making a Super League comeback if his shoulder is able to recover enough in time.

| Leeds front runners for Tony Gigot according to league express. Agar did say last week ideally he’d like to bring two more faces in. It does provide experienced cover in the whole of the backs, but whether it’s needed with Briscoe, Evans, Hall, Broadbent, Sutcliffe and Stephens available to cover remains to be seen. Could also look at the fact of moving Newman to wing, L Sutcliffe to centre or Handley to full back if needed.

| Gigot is a million miles better than the other options we have, but I suspect he’d not be happy at not starting each week. Some of the kids are good prospects but a long way from ready for SL even as cover.
Evans and Gigot doesn’t make sense though, if Gigot is coming surely Evans isn’t needed?

| They will just jump into the reserves side, Gigot would be a good pick up for cover, but I suspect he will command quite a wage and without injuries I can’t see him getting into the team.

| Burgess was told by docs he needed 12 months complete rest of his shoulder, then reco surgery that would have around a 10 month recovery - hence why Souths retired him, as his contract would end after 2 years anyway.
There ain’t no way he’s back, plus think the NRL would block it anyway

| For me I hope Burgess stays retired just for his long term health. He's had an incredible career, nothing to prove and made decent money at the same time.
What's the point in causing even more problems to his body to just to play for a couple of years well after his peak!

| I think everybody knows we need a big prop forward especially after today the pack is still too light. I don't want a knee jerking reaction signing just cause we lost a game in round one as I don't want the club to just go get any player they do right wanting to bring right man in instead of signing deadwood like previous season but how long can we weight until we possibly have a injury crisis in front row ( touch would that doesn't happen) or until we could be in a potential relegation battle again? ( touch would that doesn't happen as well). What baffles me when the club signed Prior they said they wanted him to play alongside Merrin but how would that have been possible if we have all out Quota spots full because apparently we have to wait for Martin's PNG passport to come through to open up a full overseas spot? I don't buy this passport business at all I wish the club was honest as I believe we got Prior to be Merrin's replacement even if Prior isn't a Marquee signing he was always going to be replacing Merrin. Who is actually available to come to us though and would want to come to us can't see the top class props already over here such as Walmsley, Thompson, Watts and Fifita coming in for us as there already really settled at our rivals and they won't be willing to release them to us. It's a long season with a lot of twist and turns ahead but I hope the club is more clear to the fans about the recruiting situation and where they stand with it.

Good point. We need to spend big on a UK prop imo. Poss too late now though for this season unless the offer is huge. Walmsley, missed out on Burgess who went to Wigan.

| There is a massive prop from Leeds in Wigan’s reserves who was outstanding on the weekend. His name is Ben Kilner.
He is a bit down the pecking order at Wigan due to injury but he is back fully fit now. I rate him highly.

He'll command Marquee money which should be spent on the Pack.
However if we can get a desteuctive prop under the normal SC then id go for JD aswell he covers the whole backline & is better than whatwe have already in those spots.

| I've been in deep thought as to possible ways of introducing some dynamism to this team. Short of new signings, which don't seem imminent I wonder if we already have a possible solution.
How about using Hurrell as an impact second row ala Ben Murdoch Masilla.
Would mean we are not just wasting his energy with carting it up, less likely
To constantly carry injuries, gives us real bench impact and fear factor.
I would think about assessing Mellor as a centre to accommodate this as think he's capable of it. Konrads mobility and lateral defence suffers as he's so tired by the way we use him.
Surely we have to think bit outside the box?

| Hurrell coming off the bench to play in pack for us could work, but I doubt Agar will see it and wonder if Hurrell would take to the idea of being a bench player when he's a starter, but he could be destructive off bench after about 20 mins in and opposition packs start to tire, Mellor could be used at centre or even L.Sutcliffe or Evans could go to centre to accommodate the shuffle round. Atm our pack is too weak so if we can't add to it outside the club due to wanting to get the right man and not having quota spots available etc we definitely could change the dynamic of the pack if Hurrell could maybe be used there at second row off bench because atm our pack is probably one of weakest in super league.

| Saw footage of Jai Field in a 9s tournament I think it was. He has some skill set as a back. Very quick and has real strike ability. Can we not dig out a Scottish grandad or something for him..
