| Singleton looks good but he is very hit and miss imo. At first grade level he has stood out a couple of times and looks a prospect. But he has also been swallowed up in games as well and looked nothing more than a prospect.
smokey , what games has singo been swallowed up ? ive seen all is appearances this year at 1st grade ,and in my opinion hes been great , so would like to no the games you think he got swallowed up in?

| I agree totally with the sentiments above.
Ok, so he hasn't stood out in every game he's played, but he certainly looked in the right place.

| Just to be clearer about singleton, I'm not saying he looks poor, I said he looks a real prospect, at times he looks completely at home in the first team, occasionally he looks like a young prospect trying to step up. Which is exactly what you would expect for a young prop being blooded but its not what you would expect from a first grade player.

Once every 15-20 games Bailey looks great, the rest he's pretty annonymous. That has been enough to get him hero status, and he's 29 and been the same for years.

| Widnes also have a few players missing but not of the same quality as Leeds.Your squad depth is really good unlike Widnes and I expect a Leeds win playing at home.Widnes need to improve their depth and youth to compete with the top 8.

| Hardaker, Singleton, Peacock and Mcshane were very, very good. Sutcliffe had a good game attacking wise and has a nice step but had some poor defensive reads. Something that will come with a bit more experience.
Burrow looked better at 7 and put in some very good kicks finding space, moreso than Sinfield had been in recent weeks.
Defence needs to be looked at but overall bar the 2 length of the field tries and inexperience from Sutcliffe we didn't look too bad. Very quick play of the balls and whilst the scoreline showed a close game we dominated really throughout.

| Agree Sibbs it was no win for us either way tonight but great to see the lads get stuck in and get the win with so many out and the lads from Friday backing up again.
Although we looked weak defensively for their scores at times i thought the lads handled Hock extremely well and Bentham again showed some blatant inconsistency.
As a side i thought Handbury looked excellent for them and proved he should have had the FB job for the Exiles on friday night.

| On that showing, Singleton and Moore should be miles ahead of Kirke, Clarkson and Achurch for first-team places when our injured forwards come back.

Would agree with all of that.Singleton put in a proper shift and looks the real deal from what i have seen already.Would also like to see some more of Baldwinson who made some decent yards when he came on.When these two bulk up in next few years they could be beasts.
Defence was decent overall but awful for a few of the tries (Kirke??) but hopefully can be worked on as there are lots of new faces in the side.
Overall, happy with what i saw.

| No disrespect is intended to Widnes here but I do think a few of their try's were lucky tonight
For me, a great display by the youngsters tonight which if they carry on will make a few of the first team a bit nervous

I actually thought they were good tries.
Hanburys last one was class
Mellors first one was a break from half way
His second try was 70 metres
Hanburys first try was brilliant hands
Think you were a bit harsh there mate
Well done on the win however. Definately deserved it. We just lack so much composure and whenever we go ahead or get ourselves back in the game, we collapse. Great attendance aswell you should be proud of .

I don't really see how they were lucky.
Just p*ss poor defence and well executed and skillful play on their part.
If anything some of the leeds tries had more luck about them, 2 came from kick rebounds and one was a last tackle dummy half charge from a second rower.

I'll be honest probably used the wrong phrase there, my bad
Just though few were of the "it could have been stopped" variety

Mellors looks a real prospect on what i saw tonight, surprised to hear Wigan released him TBH. I think with a bit more steel in the pack you would have been easily in the 8 this year.

He was mate.Im sick of trying to defend Zak on other forums lately with folk saying he is suspect in defence. His one on one efforts are superb as you say and i can think of many examples before tonights and many in big games. He is far better defensivley than Tomkins IMO.His taking of the high ball was a bit off tonight but its an area he has also been good in so far and you cant be catch em all!

If he develops better judgement in attack (i.e when to pass or go himself) and also a better passing game then I think he will be better than tomkins. As I'm re-watching the game he must have saved at least 4 tries through solo efforts

| Second game in a row I thought Hardaker was MOM. Burrow was superb 1st half.
Singleton, Sutcliffe and briefly Baldwinson all looked comfortable at this level. As impressed as I was with Keinhorst last week I thought he was shocking this.
I thought McShane was very busy but he's not very fit. There were lengthy spells during the game when Burrow had to get a 9 because McShane couldn't.
Achurch was dissapointing.
Nice to see BJB back and he showed some neat touches.

Agree with all of this. (McShane not being fit could be directly related to his usual role - of large periods on the bench - before the injuries)

This is one of the major reasons I think he [uIS[/u England's best FB. Nice to see a Leeds FB making the tackles absent for so long this last decade.

Seems Widnes have some cracking young uns too. Hanbury's try was a joy and that Mellor is a real pacy threat.

Agreed regards Keinhorst.Dont want to be too hard on the lad, because he is obviously still learning at this level but i am not sure i see him having a long term future with us as a starting centre from the little i have seen of him this past year.He can do a job filling in against lower table sides, but i think he may be seriously exposed when against the top end centres. We will see in the coming weeks if he plays against the likes of Hudds. and Wire, but i think he may end up going on to play for a lower end Super League side or top end Championship at best.

| I'm glad someone else noticed Keinhorst's defensive efforts. I brushed briefly on it last week when I thought he was equally as poor but his tries papered over that.
Burrow scored a nice individual effort early on and threw a beautiful long pass to Sutcliffe and looked lively. I'd feel more confident about him if he passed like that on a more regular basis though
I called McShane in the ground and thought he was very good tonight. He controlled the pace of the game and it's no coincidence that we are getting more ball out wide now. It's mostly to do with having a good dummy half there who can feed the halfs much quicker.
I have seen a lot of slating of Hardaker on other forums tonight but I just dont get it. Hanbury did well for his try, but what about the one on one tackle in the 1st half where he attempted to go around Hardaker at full speed but Zak had none of it? He was very good bringing the ball back too.
I just love how Singleton runs the ball in. He plays like every play is his last. He runs at 100mph (not literally) and as he gets more used to his role in the First Grade will improve. I can see him scoring a few tries for Leeds over the coming years.
