| Wow – this thread is still attracting muppets by the bucket full - Bradford, Hull, Rovers, Saints, Wakefield and of course Wigan fans all ‘outraged’ at this incident.
Maybe Rugby is a little too rough for some of these precious little soles – how about badminton? I can’t ever remember anyone getting hurt in badminton.

There's no doubt Rugby League's a rough game, that's why we cheer a big hit.
What we don't do is cheer for foul and dirty play, outright dangerous play, play that breaks the rules of the sport.
You want to support that, fine, but the fact you proceed to call fans who want to see a fast, hard game played BY THE RULES "muppets" says a lot about your character... or lack thereof.

It's Rugby - sh[size=100i[/sizet like this happens - get over it.
I'm betting money you've never played the game or even watched anything but Super League because if you had you'd see incidents like these week in week out.
It's part of the game - live with it!!!

I got hit by a racket once on the knuckles, that hurt.
Oh yes, and one of my opponents once forearm smashed me in the jaw without warning but the referee missed it, luckily lots of other people saw it and bombarded the sports centre with protests all week until the opponent got banned.

Ok then Fishface, to quote you “…but the fact you proceed to call fans who want to see a fast, hard game played BY THE RULES "muppets”” – which rules are acceptable to break and which aren’t?
Did Wigan go through the entire game on Friday without conceding any penalties?
If the answer is NO (which it is) then which rules are you not outraged about Wigan breaking?
Have you looked up the word ‘hypocritical’ in a dictionary lately?
Rules get broken every game by both teams, it just seems that you hand pick the ones that anger you and discard the others.
Hypocrite!!

How much money? I'll PM you where to send it.
You really did just bite off more than you can chew, because yes, I did play the game, and I took my fair share of illegal hits, which were usually penalised. But unlike pansies like them and other players who can't play by the rules, I DID play by the rules, and as a result scored many tries, and gave away ONE penalty in 3 years.
ONE penalty. And that was for a 2 on 1 ball steal. Suffice to say, I didn't get a ban for it.
Ball steals you could forgive seeing week in week out. Leading with the elbow to the face is NOT something we should see week in week out.
And you're wrong... it's NOT part of the game. The game is physical, but fair.
If you want to see flying elbows, go watch the WWE or UFC, that's where it belongs, not our game.

Don't be so bloody stupid. I don't expect teams to go through a game flawlessly. But I do expect them not to start throwing high dangerous elbows at players and NOT get the punishment they deserve.
No Wigan player did what Ablett did, so you can't say I'm a hypocrite. Needless to say, if they had, I wouldn't be defending them saying it's "part of the game", because I'm simply not that dim.

| FFS all these pages. Fact Ablett is not a dirty player nor is he a thug. Amazing comments coming from the usual tosspot supporters from Hull, Cas, Wakey and Bullsh^t.
If Ganson missed the incident which I can not believe as he managed to see Leeds offsides . Then I would say Ablett was lucky to stay on the field. Mistimed tackle even though Tomkins ducked into it 2 game ban based on a pretty good disciplinary record. Bailey probably 1 game as he has got away with a few warnings this year.
As for the other moaners try looking at your own teams especially the Bulls . Is it 11 losses now
Fortunately for Wigan the dirty big brother Tomkins would be the one getting slated after the game.
One for running in with the potential to cause a brawl. And two the cheap shot on Donald.
Wigan deserved the win they were the better team throughout.
They played the game the same as we did over the past 3 years and will be hard to beat.

Not a bad post. LS16_Rhino take note. Being a fan of a club does NOT mean you have to stick up for them and defend them even when they're clearly in the wrong.

A forearm to the face is wrong and should be punished I agree but what about a ‘facial’ when a player is getting upright from a tackle – it’s illegal and designed to cause un-comfort (possible harm) to the attacking player?
What about when player ‘A’ deliberately rubs his head against player ‘B’ in the tackle?
Now you say you’re ‘not that dim’ but I bring that statement into question by asking where have I defended this practice? Where have I said this should go unpunished? Where have I said that Abblett shouldn’t be facing a trip to Red Hall?
What I’m saying is that incidents like this happen all the time and, like it or not, is part of the game.
Live with it.

| I don't condone malicious foul play by anyone, but it really is funny the righteous indignation that spews forth when a team is sinned against when a plyaer isn't seriously hurt by said assault (TBH reading some of these posts I'm surprised Tomkins isn't actually dead).
Where are these same fans when the shoe's on the other foot (as it has been before and will be again)? No doubt they will be saying that 'they' aren't defending Wigan player X when it happens, but the hypocrisy is still hugely amusing.

Post of years? What's that?
Seeing as no-one else is talking about the "assault" you mention, maybe it isn't worthy of mention? There were certainly no other incidents in the same league as Ablett's.
However, if what you say is true, I wouldn't condone it, and I wouldn't deny your right to post your opinion on it, pushing for whatever ban you think it deserves.
Quote ="Era of the Biff"Ask Luke Robinson about that.'"
Do you mean the O'Loughlin tackle on Robinson? The one where he hits him late but in the chest? Got the penalty it deserved, and no more.
Now if he had hit the head, like Ablett, I would have been saying it deserved a ban. No two ways about it.

Injury should not come into these decisions. You could catch someone with a stray foot and kill them, alternatively you could hit them over the head with a shovel and they don't even lose conciousness... which one should be punished more severely? Going on your logic, the accidental contact with the stray boot.
Quote Where are these same fans when the shoe's on the other foot (as it has been before and will be again)? No doubt they will be saying that 'they' aren't defending Wigan player X when it happens, but the hypocrisy is still hugely amusing.'"
In the past, I've either said "That deserves a ban" or let the other fans have their opinion.
If you want hypocrisy, how about LS16_Rhino for not saying at the time of, just picking a wild example at random, O'Loughlin's hit on Robinson, "It's part of the game... Live with it!"

| This thread is Hilarious I love it when the green eyes come out with the knives...
It was a bad tackle, no doubt about it. I think it looked slightly worse as Tomkins ducked into it but there was no need for the forearms being raised by Ablett. But come guys get real.. anyone would think Ablett had shot Tomkins. He'll get a ban as it was dangerous but lets leave it and stop with the predictable anti Leeds comments.

I asked somebody at the gym yesterday about the incident, as I have not seen the tv pictures of it, what they thought of the incident. They commented back that it looked bad at first. I said what do you mean at first, was it bad or not. The response was that the commentators were fuming about it. I asked again, if you had turned the sound down was it bad. The response was that he was stupid going in like that, but it looked like he was protecting himself more from the impact rather than going for the other player.
So I am still non the wiser on the incident.
