No that is a correct call from the monster Challenge Cup run during the 1985/86 season under coach Fox. Fortunately we still drew the match with Widnes at Naughton Park (thanks to a last minute David Creasser penalty, image below, after he'd missed with all five shots previously during the tie) and went on the win the quarter-final replay back at Headingley. The 5-0 result ending a never to be forgotten series of four straight matches over eighteen days playing the then brutal Chemics and ending with a record of Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 1 and a place in the CC semi-final.

I couldn't quite believe it when I saw it, its one of the worse blatant cheats i've seen on a rugby pitch. Its dangerous Burrow had to defend a set of 6 with no boot he could have quite easily taken a stood through the foot in a tackle. I hope the RFL look into it, I doubt it though.

All we are asking for (as mere fans) is consistency from the RFL and it's officials. How Gerry Kershaw can award a penalty against Cliff Lyons in 1986 and Phil Bentham not award one against some random Castleford player some 25 years later frankly beggers belief.

IIRC Jamie Carragher wasn't charged by either the FA or the police for throwing a coin back into the crowd (think it was at Goodison?) so I wouldn't expect to see any further action here.

EDIT - I've just googled it, and it was at Highbury back in 2002. He was sent off, fined £40k by Liverpool and received a formal police caution, but escaped further punishment by the FA. Not exactly getting off scott free is it?

It's easy to trivialise but I don't think a player should escape without censure when he throws an onject like a rugby boot into a crowd of people.

I agree. I felt the same after the 2009 Grand Final when TMFMISL threw his boots into the crowd in celebration (while Graham was sat on his bum crying).

They ended up hitting a 4 foot, female, Saints fan right in the temple. True story (well half of it)

There were no Saints fans in the ground come the 80 minute mark so you're obviously lying!!
