| Lee Briers doesn't annoy me. He's been pantomime villain for so long, what would we do without him? That said, he is more annoying since Tony Smith arrived and he started consistently turning up in big matches.
The most annoying players are usually those that would be among your favourites if they were at your club aren't they? If they weren't decent players they wouldn't get to you. Robbie Paul definitely used to fill that role, for instance. With that in mind:
1) Sam Tomkins (Gobby, niggly, looks like a rat. Wouldn't boo him playing for England mind... probably most dangerus player in SL with ball in hand, like him or not)
Exceptions to the above rule, two of the most overrated players in SL IMHO:
2) Ryan Atkins
3) Ade Gardener

| I'm glad Bailey appears on a lot of people's lists. He wouldn't be doing his job otherwise.

| If Leon's not getting a mention, maybe it's because the thread asked for players, not spectators?

| Without a shadow of a doubt Lee Smith is top of the list.
Close second would be Ben Cockayne.
And finally third, there are so many to chose from, would be between Galea, Westwood and Leon Pryce.

I have never understood this? I can see why a lot of our players would get up other fans noses (Kev, TMFMISL, Senior, Maggs) but what did Lee Smith ever do?

Winning tries in Grand Finals do tend to get on the nerves of other team's fans, don't they?
Given the same poster also mentioned Ben Galea, who as far as I'm aware is about as uncontroversial a figure as you'll find in the game, suggests they picked their names out of a hat.

Because you're just settling into your "comfortable" mode, looking at an 8 point margin on your betting coupon thinking, "that'll do", and they come out of nowhere, do something world class and they're in behind the sticks and it's game on and squeaky bum time.
Annoys the **** out of me.

| 1) Sam Tomkins - Because he's an outstanding player, but moans, complains and cheats. I like outstanding sportsman that are modest and ambassadors for their game. Not ones that are arrogant and poor role models. Examples of the former would include David Beckham, Rafa Nadal, Lee Westwood, Kevin Sinfield. Examples of the latter would include Ronaldo, John Terry, Tiger Woods, Ronnie O'Sullivan & Sam Tomkins.
2) Ryan McGoldrick - MASSIVELY over-rated IMO. Tweedledum & Tweedledee from Sky Sports love him, and sure, he stands out (a bit!) in the Cas team, but would struggle to make most 17s I reckon. Thug.
3) Lee Smith - Because he COULD be amazing. But instead he's a posing, lazy, money grabbing, glory seeker who thinks (and wishes) he's a footballer.
Players who narrowly missed out.... Michael Platt (who missed out very narrowly indeed!!), Leon Pryce & Ben Cockayne.

To be fair, as much as I like Sir Kevin Sinfield, he is known to have the odd moan to a ref. Just every now and then. Not that I'm suggesting he's in Sam Tomkins' league or anything.
I also dispute that golfers are sportsmen, but that's a different debate altogether....

We refer here to the 3-time grand final winning Lee Smith? The one who scored in all 3 of the back-to-back-to-back grand finals? The one who won the Harry Sunderland trophy in 2008? Bit of a poser, perhaps. Not done a bad shift at Leeds though has he?
Is glory seeking a bad trait in a sportsman either?

| EL D Rr has this thing about Smith where he fails to see ANYTHING good he does or has done which is highlighted perfectly in his summary of Smith as a player!

I suppose I better explain my selection due to this response and please bear in mind I'm a Leeds fan, so in no way is this jealousy or envy. My judgement is he is an average player who has had good games on big occasions. I understand to some people this may open me to cristism that this is what makes a good player but ill take that risk. Irrelevant of his performances I find his attitude frustrating, childish and somewhat annoying. Always pushing the marker when playing the ball and little stuff like rubbing Clint Newtons head when Leeds had scored on Sunday, no need for it in my opinion, especially when i thought he had a really good game.

Ill agree this was clutching at straws as he is a great player but as with Westwood i think they have a dirty, sly side which can get the better of them and sometimes goes unnoticed.

| Richard Mathers isn't mentioned enough! He's a cheerleader, he spends more time slapping his team mate's backsides in congratulations than he does playing Rugby, and he thinks he's better than what he is. Plus, he blocked me on Twitter, I was heartbroken!
