Im a bit suspicious of the pledge numbers since as has been said they were about 3,000 short not so long ago. Considering the length of time the pledge had been going its suprising that so many people signed up so quickly.

Having said that, fair play to Bradford for trying things to turn around the club. A Bradford that doesn't win things is always fun to a Leeds fan such as myself. A weak Bradford club is not funny for the game or for Leeds. Well not for long anyway.

Maybe Bradford are slowly coming back down to earth, for their natural position in the rugby world.

I remember trips to Northern in the early nineties, a dark miserable place, with frowning supporters and an average team. With middle of the road results.

The only problem with someone who's used a calculator to work out that they are paying £5 or so a game to watch each home match is that they are going to bitch and whine like hell when they have to come to Headingley and pay £20 on the gate, you can eat at McDonalds all week for that sort of money.

It's an interesting experiment being carried out at Odsal. I hope it pays off for them in the long term and if it doesn't then at least they tried something rather than succumbing to the inevitable decline while bitching and moaning every step of the way, which I'm fairly sure would have been the case under the previous Chairman.

I wonder if these 'fans' will still turn up on gamedays if the team play as they have this season?

I hope that the Hood and co are telling the truth about this, and that the fans do in fact turn up in the numbers being reported. It would be rather silly to give out attendances that are in fact above those who actually attend the games and therefore increasing the tax burden like those in charge of BCFC have done this year...

How does people turning up or not increase the tax burden? Either you get income or you don't. Claiming in the papers to have 20,000 fans when there really are only half that doesn't impact your income in any way.

I say congratulations to the Bulls for trying something different. Its amazing what difference a big crowd can make tio the experience of going to a game - hopefully those that go 'on the cheap' next year will want to go again.

No but its the sort of thing that raises a flag down at the local tax office when the returns appear, even a rudimentary amount of investigation would reveal that "Club XXX" were claiming an average of 20,000 through the gate across the season and yet their turnover only indicated around 10,000 - cause for further investigation or re-assessment leading to awkward questions such as "so how exactly do you measure your crowd numbers, do they all get a ticket/receipt, are your turnstiles capable of accurate measurements, have you kept the records, can we see them NOW.

If you can't answer the questions they'll simply re-asses the club at their best guess (20,000), maybe fine the club for incorrect submission, maybe even prosecute for deliberately under declaring, and certainly fine for incorrect quarterly VAT submissions - even though the club's original submissions may have been correct, you don't want to mess with those people.

It's a fair question to ask, again.
