Actually it's not too late because plans are to keep the site going after the book is launched. I know there's quite a few events in the planning stage as well and it will provide a valuable forum for them. Also there's 150 people enjoying and posting memorabilia on the site so why stop that.
So dig out that 68 handbook and get something on there. I'll dig out my 68 Wakey handbook (I know why I had that) and post something as well !!

Phil Holmes Breaking news - the date for release is now confirmed. Phil Caplan has been notified from the printers that the book should be delivered on Friday May 28th. This is not guaranteed 100% due to possibility of the delivery van breaking down or getting lost but 99% sure that 28th of this month (only 10 days away) will be t...he day. Should you wish to pre order a copy then the main book seller is Philip Howard Books - on Street Lane in Roundhay just opposite The Flying Pizza. Look them up on t'internet.
As Wigan visit Headingley the following day, the club shop may have a few copies to sell - fingers crossed! Many, many thanks for the support so far and, just as John is doing below, pass it on!!!

Phil Holmes writes..The book is on sale at Philip Howard Books on Street Lane, Roundhay - opposite the Deer Park pub. The club shop will take some but they haven't nominated how many just yet. There is also a book signing next Saturday at Philip Howard Books starting at 10.30. Dependant on numbers it could finish at 10.45 or perhaps stret...ch past lunch time. If any of you wish to say hello it would be greatly appreciated and a nice conclusion to the months of messages posted on here. Many thanks for the support and encouragement - the two Phil's. It is excellent from start to finish - a truly fitting tribute to Leeds' greatest player. Every fan should buy one.

One of the great unassuming players I am lucky enough to have see on the field of play. Not quite old enough to see him playing FB, but his sublime delayed defence breaking passes were a joy to witness. I remember an older guy who used to stand next to me and my dad in our regular south stand spot (how we hated the 'big matches' when strangers had the audacity to stand in our spots) who constantly berated him for not being a "proper stand off" and not running enough. We all used to put him in his place of course but then all happily shared the whisky laced coffee that two old ladies (stood in their regular place in front of us) used to supply from their flasks. He ended his days at loose forward. Poor guy then had to contend with our "old friend" nearly bursting a blood vessel with this increased vituperative outbursts. Those were the days

Just to let you all know.There's going to be a large piece on Calendar this week on Phil Holmes and the writing of the book. Not sure which night yet but keep a look out for it.

Gonna go pick up my copy tomorrow, I can still picture John as a sixteen year old full back running out against Hunslet in the Lazenby Cup game, kicked 10 goals IIRC.

( Lee Crooks autobiography out soon, that should be a good read as well )

The book has been a rare relief into the bleak weekend I’m having. Currently on chapter eight and will probably finish the book by tonight. I haven’t read a book this fast since reading about John Lennon by Phillip Norman.

just started reading it i'm still on john's schoolday's and an old work colleague and friend of mine is involved in the story.
it does appear to be well written indeed

I'm half way through it , its a great read so far and brings back many memories for me .

Where did you buy the book from?

I note on-line sites like Amazon only have it on pre-order.

Cannot see it on the rhinos on-line shop and can only find the shop on Roundhay Road at the moment, Anyone else?

I got my book from the Leeds store in the St Johns centre. A fantastic read and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the history of this great club.

Although i do a bit of reading .I cant normally do 285 pages on a sunday afternoon .
