| I thought St Helens defensive game was top notch V Huddersfield, who helped by being pretty shocking ball in hand. The Saints attack wasn't that hot but I don't think any of the eight teams that took part in the play offs would say much different. Leeds included.
Huddersfield's decision to leave Moore out really was brave in the circumstances but it affected their A game a great deal. Robinson was wasted at acting half for most of the game waving his arms at the referee.

i could beleive it when i heard that! jp signed in 2005 ready for the 2006 season iirc, inbetween leeds had finished top and won a grand final and competed in 2 other finals maybe he was saying it because they didn't win those two finals in 2005??

Don't you think that Clarke says what he does to act as devil's advocate to the other two who like the Vicar of Bray constantly change their views dependant on when & where they are?
Who do you consider to be Leed's best signing in the recent past?
JP is up there along with Iestyn Harris IMO.
Altough I do agree it's OTT to state we hadn't done anything till JP arrived.

| What do you mean by "recent past"?
If its' SL era then Keith Senior without any discussion has been our greatest signing.

couldn't argue with that, although it did take him a little while to win over the "fans" iirc

I meant in the superleague era & immediately preceding it.
Not as far back as Hanley or even earlier Schofield.
I think there could (should?) be discussion & given your disputatious nature I'd be surprised if you disagreed. Though, like any member of your profession you'll always believe that your opinion will always take precedence.
I would argue that Harris had an even bigger impact especially due to the effect his return from the dark side had on our beloved near neighbours.
It had major financial benefits plus led to the signing of Peacock.
However, Senior has been outstanding & I'm just so glad we got him rather than Wigan.
The defence rests.

I would have loved to see what Harris from 98/99 could have done with this current squad, but would you play him with McGuire or Burrow?

Right stains of at your peril!!
As much as I can't be doing with the ram-raiding ratbags these days, you can guarantee they'll put in a performance if we meet again in the GF.

Thats a tough question, I would go with Mcguire over Burrow although there isnt much in it.
In terms if Harris I would suggest he is Leeds greatest ever signing and at his peek was almost unplayable.

I think Clarke would say much more than he does if he thought he could get away with it. It's very difficult to really butcher Leeds when we have comprehensively won the title two years running.
Talking b0ll0x is not being "Devil's advocate". Another quote from Frdays' game from Clarke was that apparantly Leeds hadn't been put under any real pressure from opposition since the Warrington game 7-8 weeks previously, and had had easy 50 point victories since then. He then suggested we might crumble under pressure later in the game if HKR hung on. Now I know you have to keep the punters interested in the possible outcome during a game, but to completely forget the war we fought with Saints only two weeks before would suggest (along with forgetting the title we won in 2004 pre-Peacock) he clearly has selective memory issues.
It's not like we stormed past Salford either.

This is it.
He puts a negative slant whatever the scenario for leeds.
If we'd been playing like saints recently he'd claim we simply didn't have enough form or time to improve.

I heard him tip Wigan, Saints and Catalan. It's gonna be a big night at OT with three teams in the final, is that how the new play-off system works?

That's because when 1st turned up he was out of position which many of the doylems booing him didn't realise and he had hardly trained with us.
I also think he initially got a raw deal because godden publicly stated he wanted to stay for at least another yr but wasn't offered a new deal because we'd signed keith.

Ten seasons. Will be at least eleven.
3 Championships (and counting).
2 WCC.
3 CC Finals.
XX tries (to be filled in by TVOC)
Been worth every penny.
I can play devil's advocate with the best of 'em but I'd struggle to argue ANY player in the SL era has been a better "signing".

yes i know my history you don't have to remind me, out of position in the ? oops sorry he's a pro so couldn't play in the right position even though he'd played there for sheffield and even played on the wing for them aswell.
he took time to settle into life at a big club and his performances when he first arrived and into his first season wer'nt brilliant but once he'd settled and got his confidence he never looked back, that's probably more like it

Well, given that both Stevo and Baz backed you, and Eddie didn't commit himself, I think it's right that ole Clarkey tips everyone else. Otherwise they may get inundated with emails they don't respond to on Boots'n'All saying that they are unfair, biased and such like, when we all know they are learned, astute and objective individuals to a man.
