| So....I'm an English Dolphins fan, in Canada at the moment and taking the obvious interest in the CBA and the goings on where the lockout is concerned. There was a piece on the NFL network about teams for next year to "watch out for" and it had a section saying that a record number of teams were on the lookout for QB's.
As a Miami fan, although Henne improved throughout the season I would rather have a veteran playing whilst the backup QB is worked with. For me I think that was the plan with Pennington after Henne failed to impress in the first few weeks. But Injury strikes, such is life and Henne got the go.
The NFL Networks consensus is that Seahawks, Redskins, Cards, Dolphins, Bengals, Browns, Panthers, 49ers, Bills, Titans, Vikings and Raiders should all be looking for new QB's! 10 of those teams are in the first 15 drafting meaning there may be some a) missing out and b) having to cope with what they have.
On the front of who will be up there next season (providing there is a season) the usual suspects of Pats, Colts, Packs, Steelers etc are the teams being mentioned and IMO their all safe bets. Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on the QB situations around the league. As I said; Miami fan so taking an interest big style. Unfortunately I dont think anything will change in South FLorida.

Speak for yourself. Over in our part of South Florida we look set for years to come with our future top 5 QB
I agree though there is some real dross around the league at the mo. Henne looked OK in patches as you said last year but struggled to take any sort of control over the team. He looks like he could have a future though, he just needs that extra time to develop. On the other hand though this season will be his 4th so he needs to step up soon. His Int/TD ratio would be a big worry for me. 27/33 over 2 full seasons isnt what you want to be seeing.
As for some of the other teams, whats your view on Carolina? Im not sure they should just give up on Clausen like that. He actually had a better QBR than Freeman in his first season and then look what happened to us last year. He does have the talent there. If they can draft well and bring in FA's in the right areas like we did then that will make Jimmy's job much easier. A change of coach might help them out too.
Teams that I think definitely need new QB's are the skins, Cards and 49ers from what I saw last year although G1 could give you more insight on Wash. I think the Bengals could do with what the have. Palmer had a problem with accuracy last year but I also believe he has 2 over rated WRs. TO was good back in the day and still has his moments but is getting on a bit now and gave up on too many plays last year. I love Chad Ocho as a personality but have qalkways thought he was overhyped. If he didnt change his name and have such a big mouth I dont think anyone would talk about him. Plus he thinks he's a soccer player these days, right?
Anyway thats just a little bit of feedback for you. I like to waffle on sometimes and you will probably only find 1 or 2 lines (if that) are about what you asked. ![Smile icon_smile.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)

| Chad Henne is rubbish so I hope the Dolphins keep him as their franchise QB for many years to come for obvious reasons
The Dolphins will get rid/lose Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown in the near future so they need 2 RB's and a QB, I also think they look pretty weak in the reciever department aswell, Brandon Marshall is a great WR and I personally like Davone Bess but I reckon they could use some more WR's and TE's aswell not to mention Tony Sparano being in a no win situation after what the owners did to him last year!

| The QB situation is interesting.
The Skins would like one but if the best one or two are gone by our pick (10th) I think we will draft a later round developmental QB and play a season with Grossman as starter. If a CBA gets done I hpoe Minnesota or Arizona trade for McNabb but of there's no trade partners I suspect we cut him.
There'll be a few free agent QBs draw some interest this year, Vince Young will hit the market, Bulger may be looked at by Arizona, However, as has been said, the demand oustrips suply massively.
I hope a CBA gets done really soon because the Skins are scheduled to play in Miami this year and I fancy a trip there.

| Firstly thanks for replying guys; I'm craving for someone NFL chat.
On the subject of Henne, despite being a fins fan; I have to honestly say that he has in no way impressed me. There is no doubt that he has improved but his stats are not up to standard and in honesty; how long can you go waiting for your QB to mature. I saw him in 4 live games last year and I watched most of the other dolphins games so I feel I have a reasonably accurate assesment on him. Its no doubt though that he hasn't been helped by the ageing Brown and Williams and the other offensive players we have. Brandon Marshall is class but even with him; there were plenty of dropped balls last year. That said he had 1000+ yards by the end of the season and I dont think thats been done since (I believe) 2005?' Davone Bess impressed. He was Miami's go to guy on 3rd down and I thought he played outta his skin in alot of the games I watched. I hope he continues to progress and Marshall comes back fitter and we'll see what happens there. The other majors on the offence, I believe come at a much lower price and every team needs. The likes of Brian Hartline and Fasano etc will not be making mega bucks (in NFL terms) but they rarely make any major mistakes. On the flip there contributions are seldom game changing. On the whole with Miami i am not looking to next season with optimism. The whole offense needs a new back 3 and whilst Im happy with the D's performance last year I am not optimistic with Daboll as the OC. He didn't exactly set the world alight at Cleveland? I had the (pleasure is not the word) of meeting Tony Sporano Junior on one visit to the Sun Life Stadium. A little spoke about fact is that he is Miami's Offensive "quality control" guy! That is worrying in itself. I'm not hopeful but I will still get behind the fins next season....
With the Panthers, I have a vested interest there as I work in North Carolina for 6 months of the year. I watched 6 or 7 of their home games last year and I feel although Clausen was nothing outstanding the words thrown in and deep end are relevant. I like Clausen and I thought he would go higher in the draft but for me I believe the panthers have someone with the skills to at least give it a shot. After the incidents thought with Steve Smith, I wonder how much faith that the "team" have in Clausen. Having the star WR not give you the vote of confidence can surely not do you any good. We'll see what happens with Clausen....Work in Progress. I hope he get the Rivera vote of confidence.
I think its extremely interesting what will happen with the QB's. A nice sub plot to take away from the CBA! The Skins, in my opinion have been silly to let it get to where it is, with McNabb. I dont know much about Washington but ive heard nothing but bad things about Dan Snyder and the headlines I see about (which are admittedly limited) scream of mismanagement. I know on what ive seen i would rather have McNabb directing my team than Rex Grossman.
Teams majorly needing a QB are Arizona, Tenessee the 49ers and Oakland. I'm also interested to see who risks it with Vince Young. Jamarcus Russell is also around still; I know he worked out with Miami at some point last season. Another possible is for Matt Leinhart to get another shot somewhere. He's sitting at number 3 down in Houston and I'm hoping somewhere gives him a chance because I liked him as a college player. He does seem somewhat uninterested in football though. We shall see. I for one hope there is a season.
I think someone mentioned that they were a Bucs fan somewhere along the line. Met Josh Freeman at the International series in 09 and then again at a pre season match V the Dolphins. Absolute gem of a bloke. Was a brilliant ambassador for the bucs. The kid can play too! And that coming from a Dolphins fan.

| life as a fins fan has steadily gone down hill with people looking backwards for the next messiah. Henne is not the QB of the future. we have too many holes and gaps to fill. the coaching staff need to perform some major surgery on the team. each passing season i have hope but within a few games it is obvious we are not good enough. but still there is next season ![Crying or Very sad icon_cry.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_cry.gif)

| this years draft is taking place There would be no draft in 2012 if the Lockout is still in effect. The 2011 draft takes place because the old CBA had it in the contract. The 2011 draft is the final activity of the old CBA
miami are looking at Ryan mallett Arkansas quarterback in a private workout ( he is also seeing the Bungles ) and will have him again for 2 days in April
New england are looking at jj watt a DE and nate solder as first round picks

Re: Snyder. He's been a terrible owner these past ten years. His heart's in the right place. He desperately wants to win and he's not scared to throw money at it but he had his mate running the show (Cerratto) who was a complete buffoon.
Snyder recognised the problem, gave Cerratto the elbow and now has Bruce Allen and Shannahan running the show. Snyder is now very much in the background, picking up the tab, as all good owners should be.
As for McNabb I too would have rather had him running the show. I even bought a McNabb T shirt when we signed him.........but..........he wouldn't run the offense the way the coaches wanted it run, he felt he knew better and the last thing we needed in Washington after all these last few years was player power running the day. Grossman actually ran the offence much better than Mcnabb. Grossman had spent the previous year as Schaub's backup in Houston so knew Kyle Shannahan's offence.
My ideal solution would be they all patch it up and McNabb plays ball. Realistically, it's beyond repair. I'm fine with Grossman playing a season whilst we coach up a draftee.

| Interesting article about the Skins who won the Superbowl after the last two strikes (fingers crossed).
Especially like the bit about the scabs on the Cowboys team getting humiliated by our replacements in the last strike game of 1987. As I think I've mentioned before, that's the basis for the Gene Hackman movie "the Replacements".

| Posted this in other sports, but thought you might want to know as well.
BUAFL Finals are at South Leeds Stadium next saturday, £2 for Adults, free for U18s.
12pm - Plate Final - Cardiff Cobras vs Hull Sharks
4pm - Playoff Final - Portsmouth Destroyers vs Birmingham Lions
Birmingham going for 3rd Title in a row, Portsmouth in their first ever postseason but have been dominant all season.
Cardiff are a good team in a strong division, whereas Hull are a real surprise package, they weren't even predicted to win more than 3 games all season.

| You can't blame the owners here - the NFLPA has decertified itself as the official collective bargaining body for NFL players. Why should the NFL then want to sit down and negotiate with it, given the NFLPA was the party which walked away from the CBA negotiations?
If the NFLPA want to play "see you in court" then they need to follow it through rather than looking for a way out now.

| Sounds like a great day in the BUAFL finals today.
Plate: Cardiff 20 - Hull 0
Expected really, Hull were ranked the 23rd best postseason team out of 24...
Playoff: Portsmouth 20 - Birmingham 19
Superb game from all accounts, Portsmouth had a 20-6 lead that Birmingham pulled back, decided to go for the 2 to win the game but failed. No 3rd consecutive title for Varney & Company.
