| Lui is a brilliant player and gives his all. I enjoyed the win as been following Leeds quite a while and any win at Wigan is a rarity. There board in melt down cracks me up. Their not as bad as they think either....
French make all the difference for them, and Bateman will be better next year......

We may or may not get to Old Trafford but I guarantee this team will give its all to get there and thats good enough for me.
Proud of the whole club tonight, fans outstanding and team full of spirit, commitment and pride.
For the last few years weve been down the bottom of the table now we are 80 minutes away from a Grand Final and the club is truly on the up again. All the injuries, covids, suspensions and adversity the team has coped with this year speaks volume for the group and deserves huge praise.
Weve just nilled Wigan for the 2nd time in a month in their own backyard and that doesnt even a smidging of praise? Staggering.'"
Absolutely and well said!

| Quote ="Loiner at large"I can't believe the negativity from some so called fans on this page. It wasn't pretty but we have had no half backs for majority of the season and understandably lack structure and cohesion. The effort and commitment was outstanding and from where we have come 2 years ago there is now a pride and willingness to give all for the shirt and the club. Yes Wigan were poor but they beat Catalan last week. Some of the critics of individual players demonstrate a staggering lack of knowledge of the game. Leeming nearly gave away a couple of interceptions trying to be an expansive half back but otherwise had a great game and has been one of our best player this year. How wod Matt Dickinson fared if he had played half a season at scrum half! The Myler haters just can't help themselves yes he dropped a couple but created the winning try and is as brave and committed as they come. And Rob Lui deserves a medal. Everyone knows he's bust and playing on one leg but has given everything the last few weeks. Oledski probably not fit puts his hand up and is outstanding. Yes we made dumb errors and need to improve completion rates and last tackle plays and have more attacking thrust. The club knows that and we have Austin and Sezer on the way.For now get behind your team and applaud effort and commitment from players who are playing with knocks and putting their bodies on the line for a cause they believe in. I would bet most of the critics on this platform are keyboard warriors who don't fancy going to a game when its too cold too far away or there's a chance we might lose!'"

| What can I say, I suppose I'm not a hardened one team fan who'd see his team in a final over anything else. I'd not question the effort and haven't done but it was another dour game, I get that playoffs are attritional of course but not littered with caughing the ball up and generally poor play, both teams had enough out there to produce better. I can't think of more than half a dozen good games this year and circumstances permitting that bothers me as someone who cares about the wider game. But hey 'my teams in a semi' so who cares about all that.

| A great result and a massive pat on the back for Agar and the team. We have struggled all season to put a settled side out, without recognised halfbacks, but the commitment and team spirit have been outstanding. Agar deserves so much credit for restoring the pride of playing in the Leeds shirt again.

I think your expectations of the current Leeds squad are unrealistic. We've not had great group of players since 2015 and that is still in the process of being turned around. You can't just dismiss the lack of regular halves. It's had a huge impact all year. I do get what you are saying about the wider game, but I think you have to factor in the wreckage the pandemic has inflicted on it. I think everyone has fingers crossed that the product will be better next year, and I'm sure it will be. End of the day though - the sport is tribal. We won! Take some pleasure in that surely.

I can see your point of view mate. In terms of Leeds, this is a really good season and positive step forwards for us though, and we have much more to look forward to in the future with this young team I'm sure.
We haven't had a settled half back combination all year, and we have several key players half-fit. Wouldn't be surprised to see the usual off-season surgery rush...
For morale and the experience for the young lads, it is about progression in the comp this time of year. We won't be able to play as conservatively/poorly as that and win the title (I hope), so we'll see. Think Wigan kind of drag you down into their attritional style.
The wider game, yes of course it is a concern but there have been some great games (magic comes to mind) and you know if the hard core fans keep focusing only on the problems, what chance do new/potential fans/sponsors have? There are lots of positives too, it's more a choice of what you want to look at.

Why was the attendance so low? You could hear our fans over theirs. Albeit cheering for a drop goal attempt that missed.

That was another example of just how poor we are at drop goals wasn't it? Absolutely right in front and not very far out at all. I know he was under pressure but amazes me that we're so poor at executing them. Glad it didn't go to golden point last night

I will have you know that was going straight thru the middle til a last second gust of wind took it wide. Yeah ok maybe not.
Wigan support was very poor last night. They will be back but they seem on a downer at the moment. Leeds fans loud for 80 mins tho it took a while before the Wigan get battered ditti got an airing.

Attendances in play off games have been dissapointing since their inception back in 98, although Leeds have bucked the trend more than most. I'd like to see clubs find a way to include season ticket holders, which I don't doubt would be hard, but not beyond the wit of man. Got to be better than looking at acres of empty seats for high profile games.

The future is bright. Double nilling in Wigan, never thought i would see that happen. Young guns played a massive part, great for their development and confidence.

| I thought Holroyd was excellent when he came and made a big difference, I think he is the most exciting prospect at the club - Newman again was very good. Lui my MOM - made a huge defensive effort as well as controlling the game. Tetevano and Oldeski made big contributions too Thankfully Thompson's involvement was limited.
Huge effort - this team has more chance of beating Catalans than Saints and I think Warrington are the only side that can possibly beat Saints in the GF.

| You're right Marty, Bodene Thompson played well worth a start (give him another 3 years) last night, the standard of play was good with few errors and worthy of a semi final place. Do you wilfully just ignore what people actually say so that you can just be sanctimonious. Thompson was poor and the performance was without quality, what about those statements is incorrect? (I didn't mention tactics)
It doesn't bother you that the majority of the teams in the comp offer poor opposition and so many who love the game are falling out with it because its becoming worse to watch with low fundamental skill levels. Leaving the undoubted effort aside Marty, was it a good game from a fundamental skill perspective?

There was a point early in the second half where big Mik took the first hit-up out of yardage, got smashed but made good ground. Next up was Holroyd, again toiling through Wigan's pretty tough D. We're 30 metres out with carries from a 22 year old and 20 year old prop, and I thought "this is it".
Give is 2 more years and we'll be 40 metres out instead with broken opposition players littering the floor.
I'll say it again but I've never been as excited about a group of young players at Leeds as I am now. Are we playing great rugby? No not really. But we are showing the kind of foundation grit and spirit that made the club so successful in the past. Once these lads have some more physical presence and experience under their belts, we are going to be very good indeed. Smith is still only 22 and was close to our MoM again last night.
We need to remember that the Goldens didn't pop out of a microwave overnight. They took years, literally, to develop and mature and we had plenty of disappointments and poor performances along the way. If anything this group is ahead of where they were. In fact our biggest challenge will be keeping the NRL clubs away from these lads.

Sethster you do have a point in what you're saying. Let's see how we go next week because I think it'll be a different type of game altogether.
I agree the finals series needs a turbo boost of quality though, hopefully the other finalists can put on a show over the weekend. The game in this country needs a good finish to the season given the loss of the WC.
I'm blaming Wigan a bit for last night; they are a suffocating type of team. I thought some of their wrestle in D was dangerous too, lots of attack to the lower legs and bending players into dangerous positions, hands on faces, standing on hands... lots of housery going on last night I thought. Was quite proud of Smith towards the end winding Partington (?) up and winning the penalty by not striking back - that takes some maturity.
